Default I love being a sober driver.

After much soul searching and yes, I'll admit, beer sipping, I have realized that there is more to life than being a part of the party.
Why be actually involved in the shenanigans when you can help save lives? Sure, we all enjoy to boogie, and naturally I love delicate conversation over varied cheeses and crackers, but personally I feel my night is better served taking care of those around me. I may not know the person in the seat to my right, and while I had math with the two boys in the back, they have no idea who I am. In the close, cozy (and after many late nights with a hoover and trash can, clean!!!) ambiance of my vehicle, I can bond with the always friendly folks around me. It even brings me closer to Jesus. In conclusion, I wish to say that for all of those sober driving they should feel a warm glow in their heart, far surpassing any fuzzy warmth of alcohol, and the next morning satisfaction of a job well done (as well as getting the free parking!!!!), surely is greater than a hangover.

^this is great. but sadly i hardly ever find designated drivers. usually the person who had the least amount of drinks ends up driving.

I've never really had this problem. In my group when we go out we usually prefer soda to alcohol and none of us ever drink that much. When we do drink it's usually just one or two and we're fine to drive home. I have been to a couple of parties, not with my friends, where people did get drunk but I got a ride there from my family and picked up later. I don't think it's a good idea to go to a party where you might want to drink a few drinks, and expect that there be someone sober to drive you home. I guess I just don't trust people that much. I don't really like to drink.

Which is always the main thing. I'm always the designated driver, mainly because I don't drink anymore. I don't mind it myself.

wow, i completely forgot about this thread. I don't really mind being the dd every once in a while, and I will volunteer to do it, but my group of friends are really good with that, none of them drink a lot all that often, but if there is an occasion where we can expected to be drinking a lot, we'll always work out a system where everyone has a completely sober person to drive them home, or arrange to spend the night and then drive home in the morning.

i have a lot of respect for straightedge adolescents, because there are simply not too many of them. but you gotta give it up to alcohol- the cause and solution to all of life's problems

good story.
even worse than being the des. driver : going to a college where therre are less kids than my high school, and a party is unheard of...so theres no reson for a des. driver.
