That's exactly why though. People didn't want action games fro RE they wanted horror games. Maybe if they were just spin offs it'd be fine, but imagine if the next Mortal Kombat acted more like Super Smash Bros. Could be a good game, but would probably piss most people off for not being an arcade style fighter like they want from MK.

But that's dumb. Whiny ****s.

I'm not even really a fan of the older RE games, but RE6 was a disaster in my eyes. RE Revelation was somewhat better, but still had more crappy stages than good ones.

I don't really like pure shooters though. I know GoW is a 3rd-person shooter but it's a 1st-person shooter at heart, and 3rd-person shooters are generally way more fun for me than 1st-person shooters. 1st are generally more about generic shooter mechanics and not much else, whereas 3rd obviously don't have as smooth shooter mechanics and so rely on more idiosyncratic concepts (f.ex. GTA, Mass Effect, Dead Space, Tomb Raider, RE 5 & 6, etc).

It's pretty great honestly. There are three campaigns going concurrently: the first is more survival horror to an extent, and the other two are more like RE 5. First is kind of amazing, second is... as good at least as RE 5 I guess, but the last one is kind of unnecessary but still highly decent. But there's so much content between the three that it's pretty hard to be disappointed if you're fine with the direction of the series up to that point.

I basically agree. I don't like most modern 1st person shooters since I feel like they're just the same use-the-iron-sight-and-go-for-headshots thing over and over again. A few of the more recent Halo games being the exception. ODST, Reach and 4 were pretty fun and involved way more on the spot improvisation and weapon switching than 1st person shooters usually do.
I like more 3rd person shooters, like Vanquish, Hunted, Fuse, some of the gears of war games... I know they're still just shooting, but there's a bit more variety to the gameplay in the best of them. I like Saint's Row too if they count. With Tomb Raider, I confess to preferring the games before the 2013 reboot of the series.

Saints Row definitely counts, and I'd take it over GTA since the release of San Andreas. I just didn't bring it up cause it would kind of be redundant. And the reboot Tomb Raider was amazing. Loved it to death.

I think ratt is German for beer or something.
No, it isn't. Rattskeller is a bar, but it means something else.
Barflord then.

Sherlock Holmes, Mr. Bush from C. S. Forester's Hornblower series, Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings, and Quentin Compson from Faulkner's Sound and the Fury. Holmes is the greatest fictional character of all time, in my humble opinion. Despite his near-superhuman abilities, he feels like a real person. He's so iconic that it's easy to forget that he isn't. Mr. Bush is just plain likable, and I remember thinking Aragorn was the coolest guy on Middle-earth when I read LotR for the first time. And I can identify with the tortured scholar who is Quentin Compson better than any other fictional character I've encountered.

The elves in general are my fav from LOTR. They are so awesome and mysterious, and just plain bitchin' in The Silmarillion.
