Christmas 2017

Let's discuss Christmas.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-04-2017 02:35 PM

i'm excited for christmas. 10 days and i will be home for the holidays. haven't even seen snow yet this winter which makes me very happy.

MicShazam 12-04-2017 02:37 PM

Love it. Aside from how it makes me fat and poor.
Right now I'm drinking warm Gløgg. It's heated red wine with various spices (cinnamon is important), plus raisins and almonds if you're feeling like doing it traditionally. Then you're supposed to have a spoon in your cup so your can fish them out. I'm just having it without the lumpy stuff. It's nice. Look up some recipes online and try it.

Then only thing I hate about christmas is having to constantly listen to people complain about how much they hate it. Dull ass cynics.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-04-2017 02:40 PM

oh and christmas tunes >>>

here have some

^ redneck christmas >>>

Cuthbert 12-04-2017 02:40 PM

The only thing I hate is the gift buying.

Cuthbert 12-04-2017 02:43 PM

Yeah man post them Christmas riddims.

I love MBC and love that song. Still generally hate Christmas though.

Frownland 12-04-2017 02:51 PM

I prefer Merry Christophe.

Christmas music doesn't always have to be cause to stab your ears out btw

MicShazam 12-04-2017 02:56 PM

What makes me feel in that christmas mood more than anything is traditional Danish psalms and popular American christmas tunes like Bing Crosby's "White Christmas", for example. I don't know if Americans are aware, but their version of christmas has really infested most of the christian world. I'd say American holiday tunes are at least as familiar to Danes as our own canon of pop tunes for this season. Those aforementioned psalms are really the only thing that, musically speaking, is 100% our own.

Love that one too. I used to have a few lines from it stuck in my head literally for months:laughing:

Later this month, this small local cinema is showing this movie in a former factory hall turned-cultural-center. Looking forward to sing along to the songs together with 100 other people.

Preface: Linda is a ****ing category 5 tornado in waiting at any given moment.

She can lie dormant for days, sometimes weeks. But when she erupts, stay the **** out of the way.

It could be cleaning out her closet, vacuuming the dog hair out of the house, scrubbing bathroom tile, rearranging........ well, anything.

Stay the **** out of the way.

Two days ago, and based on how ****ty 2017 has been for us she told me: **** Christmas this year. **** it. I don't want anything to do with it. We got nothing but ****ed this year. Screw it.

The tornado struck around 11:00 AM this morning. It's gonna be 100% Christmas in the Vista household.

I almost broke my back earlier taking down a huge package of decorations from our attic.

At this moment, I'm staying the **** out of her way. I did set up the tree though, and it looks killer.

What you guys having for dinner? I might have cheeseburgers. Been doing them Juicy Lucys that Deej posted. Will probably have two of those.

For me the best thing about Christmas is spending time with your family and everyone is together and you are just having a nice time.

This year I can look forward to, and enjoy, the many football fixtures over the Christmas period. As the football lads will know, in previous years the season was already over by the halfway mark for me.

Lisnaholic 12-04-2017 04:08 PM

Not a very festive song, but he does mention a whole bunch of Christmassy things, and squeezes in a little snow=cocaine thing too:-

Actually, I probably posted this same song last year - but no apologies, that's exactly what Christmas music is about!

Wait... You don't mean cheeseburgers... as your christmas eve dinner? If so, that's depressing.

I thankfully rarely see the obnoxious half of my family - not even at christmas. So yeah, I love the family aspect of christmas.

Chula Vista 12-04-2017 04:19 PM

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberry sauce all stuffed into a pie. The crust is mind blowing.

Why is it depressing? Christmas dinner is supposed to be the most enjoyable meal of the year and I will enjoy some burgers more. There are no laws in place that state you must eat turkey on December 25th. The enjoyment if you are having turkey with all the trimmings is outweighed by the hassle of doing everything from scratch, then there is often the waste.

Turkey and ham and all the other generic holiday foods are boring as shit.. They are just easy to make mass quantities of.

I'm looking forward to christmas evening dinner all year long. It's usually duck with red cabbage (proper translation?), prunes, brown sauce, potato chips and boiled potatoes. Rice a la mande with cherry sauce for desert. All of this stuff (or variants thereof) for dinner around mid-day:

I know it looks disgusting but... oh my god is it good.

Not knocking your hamburgers. I just couldn't imagine my christmas without all the traditional Danish foods.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-04-2017 05:07 PM

give me the turkey and taters and im happy. drown them sunnuvabitches in some gravy for a real good time.

MicShazam 12-04-2017 05:13 PM

christmas is really about the gravy

It's like your buddy bought a bright pink hat with pretty flowers on it and you're looking at it out of the corner of your eye and he's like, "What, you got a ****ing problem with my hat?"

I know the former mostly because of this dorky 80's cover version done by Danish musician Tommy Seebach.

I know the other one a tiny bit, but never realized it was a christmas song. Literally never paid attention to the lyrics!
