Nah, it's the results of the physical act that bring enjoyment. Just like with EVH.

I guess you just enjoy music differently from most humans.

Nothing wrong with sports.

Some guys are into films, books and 'gaming'.

Some are into sports.

The key difference is that sports are incredibly in your face. If the team in your area wins a game you damn well better be excited about it or you aren't a real member of society. That tends to be a bit of a turnoff for people who find sports boring.

Dude. Philly is on another level about it. It’s the most vitriolic sports culture in the states.

Obviously the south is college football crazy but the codes of conduct are very different. Veteran southern college fans take pride in respecting their rivals and avoiding fights and profanity. I’m not saying the south is completely genteel but Philly has nasty crazy pro-sports fans.

The only time you'll get that here is when Ireland are in a major tournament (not often) like the World Cup or European Championships or the Six Nations. Even then, if you're not into it people will just accept it. You just give a cursory COYBIG and everyone's happy. Flags do get hung out, but nobody's gonna lynch you if you don't do that. Of course, don't dare hang a Union Jack out if you happen to be English living in Ireland!

My wife went to a big football school down south and it's even worse down there in terms of the expectation that everybody has to be into it.

Ah, so it's a military thing.

Yep.
Just pretend you care even if you don't. You don't even have to know who the team are playing, just say come on the lads and everyone's happy. And if they lose, bitch about the other team (or the Irish team, either works, but if you go that route you need to know a little about them obviously).
