Slavery Was A Choice

Maybe?

OccultHawk 05-10-2018 09:54 PM

Yep

100% voluntary

Slavery is a choice in the same way that following laws is a choice. You either do it, or a group of people who assume superior authority over you will come after you with threats of violence.

Cops are tantamount to slave owners. Nobody likes a slave owner.

Hope you're not implying that all cops suck. There's some great cops out there.

When your ass is about to get jacked seeing a cop is like seeing manna fall from heaven.

Unless you’re black.

I've met about 10 of them (male and female) in the last month or so. Considering the physical and mental condition I was in prior to the 5150, they were all respectful, not aggressive, and flat out cool about things.

For my part, I complied, never got angry, and just went along for the ride.

And the neighborhood you live in. Certain jurisdictions breed dick head cops. Some places there really isn't that much racial tension.

Depending on what you're being stopped or arrested for, being polite and complying is key, you will be treated well 99% of the time if you do that.

But no if a police officer is OK with you it MUST be because you are white :D

What has been your experience with them?

Stopped/searched/arrested?
Did you comply/respond politely/help them with the questioning?

Also if the answer to the first question is yes, what was it for?

Frownland 05-15-2018 07:55 AM

As a kid, my neighbours called the cops because they could hear my dad beating me with a belt and the cops said that he had a right to spank me. Dickhead cop.

A cop screamed at me for several minutes for not wearing a helmet in high school. I was like, aight, then rode off. Unstable cop.

Parties that get broken up usually have nonchalant cops who don't want to be there or over the top pricks. Meh cop bad cop.

Got arrested for being too drunk in public, luckily a roommate was able to pick me up. Cops were douchey at first but I was trashed and funny so they lightened up. Dudebro cops.

I've stayed in cars with homeless friends. It seems like every cop is an aggressive and unreasonable **** when it comes to illegal camping.

Most cops try to start **** at traffic stops.

Got caught smoking herb in a park right after it got legalized in California. They just wanted to make sure I wasn't smoking meth and let me go but they stole my weed.

Other things.

Cuthbert 05-15-2018 08:06 AM

I've had a few 'outside and drunk' encounters with them too.

One was when I was out late drinking underage with a couple of older friends. Had alcohol. Showed it them, told them it was ours and we were going to a friend's. Searched, got a slip then they drove back round to make sure we were walking where we said. Never found my weed. Another was on my 18th but they were cool and let me go.

Had a couple bad experiences but those were my fault. Once for swearing and once for trying to run off.

I'm smart. I know my rights. I also know know how to talk to cops to de-escalate situations. BUT, some cops are just out to start shit so they can get overtime pay by spending superfluous hours filling out incident reports. It's a dirty tactic, but they do it.

One time my ex-wife was having a bi-polar/schizo episode. She left and went to the bar and was drinking [which doesn't mix well with her meds] and acting erratic. It was a small town [less than 1,000 people]. She wouldn't listen to reason, so her dad called the cops. So, 2 cops show up, 1 male and 1 female.

It just so happened that my ex-wife was friends with the female cop, so my ex told her a BS story and the female cop ate it up, since they were friends. So, I tried to reason with the male cop. I told him that his partner had a conflict of interest and was letting it affect her duty and judgment. *TRIGGERED* He got in face, shoved me against a car and told me that if I said 1 more word, he would take me to jail. I told him that I did nothing wrong, so he tries to tackle and handcuff me for 'saying 1 more word.' I outrun him and he realizes that he has no case and gives up.

Another time, cops were harassing my friends for sitting down and smoking cigarettes. They start going through their backpacks. I say "Did you consent to being searched" *TRIGGERED* Cop goes crazy. "You wanna be a lawyer, smart ass, blah blah." "You're interfering in official police business, blah blah." In my face, screaming like a maniac.

Those are just a couple that I remember off the top. I haven't had a TON of interactions with cops, but he majority that I have met have been TERRIBLE HUMAN BEINGS.

You’re lucky you got out alive. Cops take their partner’s side 100% of the time. That you thought that was a sane strategy makes me think you have a screw loose.

Cops shouldn’t act like this but how could you expect anything different?

I agree that no matter what you should always politely make it clear that you don’t consent to be searched but of course they’re going to yell and threaten and try to intimidate. That’s part of the show.

That cop did you a solid. You could’ve ended up a serious resisting charge.

JUDGE: Why did you arrest this man?

OFFICER: Because he was resisting arrest.

Disturbing the peace. Interfering with police activity. Drunk and disorderly. Whatever catch all he likes.

Both examples you've given you've tried to get smart with them. It's not as if you literally did nothing, complied and were like "yes officer, no officer, thank you officer" and then for no reason they slammed you up against a wall.

There are things you can do to avoid being treated badly one of which is not telling them how to do their jobs another is not running off you did both of them not surprised those were bad experiences tbh.
