You still haven't explained what "behaviors" you think could only be explained by genetic engineering.

From what I read, the research facility you're referring to wasn't even working with coronaviruses prior to the pandemic... But I don't even want to harp on that cause I'd rather stick to the point that you are ignoring what actual scientists are saying about the evidence derived directly from the genetic sequencing, based presumably on your own speculations on why some of the symptoms are different from other strands of the virus.

Basically if you don't know the relevant genetics or virology here then the only responsible thing to do is defer to the scientific consensus.

The most likely explanation is that they screwed up...but then the virus mutated after whoever Patient Zero was brought it outside of the lab environment into Wuhan proper. That's why we have so many new strains in such a short period of time.
Or maybe, because it’s so incredibly contagious it has had more opportunity to replicate and therefore mutate.

I already posted about this. Specifically about the fact that it's inducing blood clotting in not only the lungs, but in the brain and other parts of the body.

I conclude that since it doesn't behave like a normal respiratory disease in that "family" of viruses, the likelihood of modification is high even if those scientists can't identify exactly what was modified from the outset.

I'll bet you tree fiddy that it came from the lab's pet pangolin.

I just reread that... Is he saying that the virus that we're dealing with isn't even the one that originally escaped from the lab but rather the parent or grandparent of the current virus which has since mutated from the original bioweapon? If so we're really getting into A Beautiful Mind territory.

@Ant You should send the CDC an email with the evidence that you picked up on that these so called scientists are not seeing.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...mutations.html

Quote:
A Slow-Mutating Virus
At this point in the pandemic, coronavirus genomes with 10 or fewer mutations are common, and only a small number have over 20 mutations — which is still less than a tenth of a percent of the genome...

researchers have found that the coronavirus is mutating relatively slowly compared to some other RNA viruses, in part because virus proteins acting as proofreaders are able to fix some mistakes. Each month, a lineage of coronaviruses might acquire only two single-letter mutations.

In the future, the coronavirus may pick up some mutations that help it evade our immune systems. But the slow mutation rate of the coronavirus means that these changes will emerge over the course of years.

That bodes well for vaccines currently in development for Covid-19. If people get vaccinated in 2021 against the new coronavirus, they may well enjoy a protection that lasts for years.
My bad for assuming it has been mutating quickly. Dafuq I know about virology?

Why are blood clots something that could only be produced if it were genetically modified though? Is it just that you think it sounds strange and thus it's not natural?

Also you're wrong about the second part. They know which parts of the sequence have been modified from previous strains. That is precisely how they are able to determine whether said modifications are natural mutations vs genetic engineering. Reread the portion of the article I posted.

Well if they didn't see it before they're certainly seeing it now, lol.

Business Insider - Mysterious strokes among young COVID-19 patients may reveal how 'a virus can cause strokes in ways we never knew before,' a doctor says

in my mind, the way this virus is doing weird **** beyond pulmonary distress did put some paranoia in my brain that it’s abnormal and therefore maybe synthetic

even originally I’m pretty sure I qualified that thought with something like this is just me being me there’s nothing scientific about this thought - (except maybe from a psychiatric point of view)

Their entire analysis is based on the idea that it was engineered to be some kind of bioweapon, not whether or not it might have tweaked as part of generalized GOF research. You can modify a virus without directly screwing with its genetic sequence. Also-

Quote:
Viruses that are changed solely through the action of spontaneous mutations, recombination or reassortment events (even in experimental settings), are not generally considered to be genetically modified viruses.
That's the "gotcha" part that these scientists overlooked.
