People, even smart people, are dumb. It's just how people are. Not much you can do but throw your hands up and deal with it.

Yes, thanks - and in this particular sister's case, she is also a Trump supporter and believes everything he says and is obsessed with him. Hard to fathom, as she's not stupid. She's just one of those people who looks up to what she considers a "strong leader". And she's a very aggressive personality herself.

Honestly democracy is an unnatural form for people. Even during the French Revolution the people were off and on cheering on the king right up until they cut his head off and then they cheered Napoleon.

Thanks ribbons. Actually, and so far rather miraculously, only she is exhibiting symptoms even though she drove 3+ hours in the same car as my youngest sister. And to be fair to her, she did have some bad luck because other than that trip she took, she was quite careful, wearing the mask everywhere, including at work.

So far, she's not doing too bad, slight temperature, general fatigue and cold sweats, joint pain and loss of smell. But it's been going on for a week and she says she has never felt this bad.

Re: your sister, I guess it's easy for a lot of people to think it's nothing since the majority of the people get over it without many problems. What I don't understand is why it's so difficult to understand that there is an element of chance involved and you might, through some misfortune, end up with a serious case. Why would you want to take that chance? Strange.

Same reason people play the lottery but in reverse. Either the unintelligible chance makes you feel good or it doesn't and that feeling dictates how you act.

I don’t understand why so many people are only afraid of death. I’m also afraid of getting sick as ****. I’m afraid of lasting cardiac and pulmonary problems, brain fog, covid toes - just the thought of that goddamn virus replicating in your body - goddamn- **** that - how the **** could a pathogen invading your body and all you can really do is let it run its course not scare the living **** out of people?

I’ve mentioned it before but I had a bad case of pneumonia before and I’m still traumatized by the memory. That **** was ****ing horrible. It’s like you suck in air but it’s not getting absorbed or something and it hurts like holy hell. I’m not cool with doing that **** again just because I’ll probably live. Jesus. People are ****ing either brave af or stupid af.

More like they don't appreciate reality cause the reality of neoliberalism is that nothing physical is actually real. It's a secular form of conservative Christianity. Same reason they ignore the physical reality of backbreaking labor cause it's not really real, only the reality of the social achievement of labor.

I'm sorry to hear that, ribbons, your sister is being very unreasonable to you. I hope it isn't getting to you too much
