I just made a server. If anyone wants to be admin or tell me what to put in it, message me, or just ask to be in charge. I don't use discord too much, but I might if this takes off.

I set up a bot to stream music via voice chat. I'll post the commands in the #rythm channel.

I'd be interested in this, even though I don't quite know what we'd do on it.

I also don't know why, when asked what discord is, Batlord said, "It's Skype".As far as I understand it, Discord is an app that you can download for free on your cellphone or computer. You can then open a chat group and do the following:-
type messages to each other, talk or use a video call facility - so I guess it has some similarities to Skype after all.

For it to offer us something that we don't already have on MB, it would be best to have an agreed time that we logged on, otherwise, poor grindy, operating on German time, will log on and have no-one to talk to.

It was only me and 2 other people, so I figured ya'll lost interest or something. The past few weeks haven't been so great, so I haven't been super active on discord myself.

^ I'm not sure why Marie and Raime are talking as if MB has a discord server.

It didn't seem like there was a lot of interest, I haven't even gone on myself lol. We need something juicy to pull people in.

I'm on discord so I'd definitely use it. Why isn't there more interest? It seems like it would be convenient.

When I arrived in this thread I was in a spirit of carefree optimism, skipping along like a young child. Not to over-dramatize, but now, just two days later, I feel like I'm struggling in a swamp of despond that's threatening to pull me under.

These seem to be the problems with MB discord:-
i) no-one knows what to do there
ii) the only people who say it exists already don't explain how to get there
iii) the only people who say they've been there bring back a negative opinion of it.
iv) no-one has commited to promoting it with explanations, publicity or enthusiasm

We need Trollheart to get this baby off the ground.

All true. I'm not a good advocate for it because I'm new to discord myself.

Once I am more familiar with the functions it'll be easier to get creative.

I think Fluff will be a good resource. God I sound old.

The appeal is more in that it's not moderated (?) and MB's rules don't apply. It's not an extension of MB as much as it could be a tool, as plug proved to be, to increase activity around here.

OK, so "Plug" (and the better "BeatSense") are places where you can say "fuck" and "shit" and talk about music
so you can increase activity in another forum called "Music" Banter where the emphasis is not actually on music.

True to form.

I found a bunch of great music from others in plug, which translated to posting about the artists in depth on the boards. But we also had movie watching parties and therapy sessions, it was just a fun friendly place to interact with others in a more real-time way than one can on the boards.

You dont have to be a part of it, no one is forcing you.

I probably couldn't get in anyway considering how many people are just busting down the door to be a part of it.

You can screen share, video/voice chat, and add bots that play music and stuff. Think of something you would like to do with other MB members and discord can probably do it. It's not a forum replacement.

Once we have set up the nudes and nsfw channels it should be better.

99% sure people are confused and intimidated by it and the only users who use it regularly are me, you and Wolf. Oh just seen Wolf's post further down. Just me and you then I think.

I just made this invite for the server. It doesn't expire so it can be stickied in the OP.

I suspect the only way to get people to join is to actually schedule/host events on there, like we used to do in plug.

I scheduled a listening party once in plug and I was the only one who showed up. I had to drink all that beer myself. It was terrible.

I made fluff and admin to help move things along. I've neglected my doodies, mainly because I felt like it wasn't being used all that much.

You're all missing out on wholesome daily cat discussions on the discord.
