but who says claiming it's not serious isn't your latest campaign strategy?

Genuinely the only aspect of it that's remotely interesting to me is that I would get to see inside the mod cave. I bet there's some seriously juicy gossip in there from over the years

It's been nice peeking in lately, though it is a bit sad to see the place still running on an ages old version of BBPress still. Advameg or whoever the owners are still seem to collect money from commercial clicks while caring and doing nothing for you guys who actually add worth to the site.
Is Yac still around? |

It'll be okay. A huge influx of people will put lifeblood into this forum again.

Honestly tbh I vote to make MB even more insular and more off-putting to would-be members so that everyone can sooner be moved into an isolated brutalist labyrinth compound controlled by Marie, myself and WWWP. MK-Ultra Banter cult island
|
Fortunately MB works in such a way that new members either get sucked into the vortex of insanity pretty quickly, or are spit out by it. So the ones that stick around are ready to have their souls ensnared
seriously, now I'm wondering how MB would score on a cult scale. Probably disconcertingly high |

10. Moderators hold the elusive John Cage writings in the Mod Cave. rostasi is the only regular member to have laid eyes on them. The old mods had it beat out of them. Factor 2 Devotion for the leader — to what degree does the group encourage love and devotion to the leader of the group? 1. King Frownland is a very chill guy and lets users choose how devoted they are to me. Factor 3 Dependence — to what degree is the followers’ behavior specified and directed by group doctrine and leader commandments, so that this guides followers’ decisions? 10. WWWP broke jwb's legs and let him survive on the forum to serve as an example to rulebreakers. Factor 4 Coercion — to what degree are followers manipulated to enter the group and to remain in the group by instilling fear, shame or guilt, by humiliation or public embarrassment, or by threats or emotional blackmail? 10. I'm not sure if the inherently embarrassing nature of leaving the forum is on us though. Factor 5 Mystification — to what degree do followers learn a special language and interpretation of symbols that creates an alternate mindset from which they view reality? 10. If you don't abide by the mindset, you get sent to the tulip farm. Factor 6 Dissociation — to what degree are followers asked to remain in an altered state of awareness outside of their grounded state of awareness, affecting their ability to function normally in their personalities? 10. We encourage members to interrogate their family members in the ongoing efforts to capture Dirty. Factor 7 Identification — to what degree do followers identify themselves with an element of the Superconscious Mind (the spirit, their ensouling entity or a nucleus of identity) and detach from identification with their ego and self? 10. It's the most interesting aspect of most members but again, that's more on them than us. Factor 8 Isolation — to what degree does the group cut followers off from relating to family and friends outside the group, and limit contact with society outside the group? 1. We are too infectious, every outsider who discovers the place is doomed to be a part of the group forever. Factor 9 Cognitive Restructuring — to what degree does indoctrination from the group change followers’ beliefs about themselves and their relationships with other people, their moral values and their cosmological world view? 1. You're not going to be able to change anyone's mind around here. Factor 10 Nexus of motivation — to what degree do followers’ goals and dreams shift from a personal focus to a spiritual focus, so that personal goals are postponed or abandoned altogether in favor of spiritual aspirations and group mission? 10. Notions of personally focused goals are just a mind trap to get us to automate our exploitation, so you can ****ing have em. Score is 73, so we're a cult, but just barely according to the stupid scale. |
:laughing::laughing::laughing:
excellent. the path to the torture labyrinth is clear |
also we're actually at least 78 because I'd have to give factor 2 a 5 or higher. King Frownland may be chill but Marie, Queen of Thots demands complete devotion and adoration.
|
Hey! What right have you to call us .... ohhhh! You said cult...
:shycouch: |
If boo boo was still around, we'd have a regular bulwark against the cult mindset and method of indoctrination - a true contrarian and a fighter against the establishment.
|
Do you realize it's been more than 11 years since that guy last posted, and he's still being mentioned on these boards? Wow.

Just thought it was curious. He's obviously become somewhat of a legend. I don't actually recall too much about him and wasn't really here when he went out in a blaze of glory. He stopped posting in 2010 but was still seen in 2011. Not sure how that happened if he was permabanned for having a meltdown and banning people.

And yet Urban hasn't attained the legendary status of Boo Boo. Go figure.

I vaguely remember his meltdown. He seemed a nice enough fellow to me as far as I can remember, but occasionally a little thin-skinned and volatile.. Not great traits in a mod. Perhaps he was going through some ****.
edit: By the way, a little sad to see him permabanned still. He's probably matured over the years and so if he returned, he could probably become a valued member of MB once again. If a mod reads this, consider lifiting his ban and give him a second (third? seventh?) chance. |
hell yes I want to meet him
#FreeBooBoo |
I've always wondered why boo boo's avatar still shows up even though everyone else who gets banned has their avatar taken down.
|
Although I've probably done it, permabanning users with post numbers in the hundreds or thousands didn't quite sit right with me. Sometimes, both regular users and mods got caught up in some dumb forum drama and the ban hammer came swinging. It might be there are more old, banned regulars that might be worth unbanning.

I officially unbanned Boo Boo.
It's been a decade. Who the f*ck cares? Anybody else I should unban? Let's free the ghouls. Merit stays banned. |
|
I remember some or perhaps a few getting permbans for circumventing their temporary ban by making new accounts. That might've been how boo boo got his permban? I think Paloma did the same thing and probably more people too.
edit: Captain Caveman is an old still-banned regular. I vaguely remember trouble following this guy, but I also think many appreciated him. I can't remember why he got the hammer. The unfan is another. |
