Faveourite Comedian

To save hijacking a different thread with quotes I thought I'd start a new one.

Who's your faveourite comedians? Any good ones local to you?

franscar 01-15-2005 04:08 PM

I've always been rather fond of Eddie Izzard just because he's completely mental.

For TV work, Chris Morris (Day Today, Brass Eye) were spectacularly amusing.

Sweet Jane 01-15-2005 04:14 PM

Eddie is brilliant as a comedian. I'm not too fond of him as an actor, mind. I seen his Sexie tour last year. Bill Hicks is a particular faveourite of mine.

For tv... Brass Eye was the best, the paedophile special was particularly good. Haha, Nonce sense. Alan Partridge, or well, anything with Steeve Coogan is amazing too. Black Books aint half bad as Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey are good separately, so they work really well together.

Waynegrow 01-16-2005 04:37 AM

Bill Hicks is the man, to me anyway's -local my buddy spicolli is a briliant comedian.

CrAzyBeAuTiFul 01-16-2005 07:38 AM

Mike Myers .... came from Ontario, Canada :yeah: now that guy kiks some arse
more an actor now but w/e

spearmint 01-16-2005 08:56 AM

Eddie Izzard and Lee Evans...:)

i am not emo 01-16-2005 10:09 AM

Eddie (I liked 'circle' the best), Bill Bailey (wilderness), Lee Evans (his dvd from wembley was hilarious), and i like peter kay...

do you lot like little britain only i think it's getting a little over-rated now, yeah it's funny (andy and lou being my favourite sketch) but people go on about it soooo much...

Greg 01-16-2005 11:31 AM

Peter Kay is great in anything he does. Nighty, Night was great to. Did anyone see Garth Merengi's Dark Place? that was funny.

hookers with machineguns 01-16-2005 11:36 AM

Jim Gaffigan. Kinda disappointed to see him use the same material over and over again on the late night shows during the holidays, but nonetheless funny as hell.

I also like the Umbellical (no idea how to spell that word) Brothers, they are so awesome.

So true, Carl Barron is like the best everything he says is so true, like how we talk to flies n all that stuff, everytime i see his dvd it makes me laugh even more. Some other funny guys r tripod, they just rock n their lil comedy songs r just the best. The funniest chik i seen was this lady from America whom is an asian lesbian, dont know her name, but she took the piss out of her mum, frik it was good.

Those of you living in London and other neighbouring cities look out for Peter D, a new amateur comedian who's really starting to break through down that way.

He's got a certain humour and charm thats reminscent of Bill Hicks.

Kurt_Cobain 02-07-2005 03:30 PM

Jimmy Carr
Billy Connoly
Ricky Gervais (but only live I cant stand the office)
Morcambe and Wise
Dunno if we're allowed to mention actors or just standups but nevermind::
Eric Idle
John Cleese

There was a programme called 'The 100 greatest comedians ever' but I can't remember allot of them. Look it up on channel4.com/co.uk, maybe it'll be on there

I'm not sure "charm" is the best adjective for describing Bill Hicks really, is it? He was an angry man.

Of course it is, he said the most outrageous things, and insulted pretty much everyone and we loved him like a brother anyway. It takes a certain charm to get away with that. Its the same with this guy. There's a guy just got sacked for making a Tsunami joke - I'd put good money on it than if Bill was still around and had made such a joke he'd get away with it, with the audience anyway, because so many people had fallen for him.

Well, It'd have to say:

Jimmy Carr: He is just the funniest.
Bill Bailey: Man he is crazy, but so funny. Did anyone see his Show that was on Channel 4 a few weeks ago? that was great!!!!.
Paul Merton: Have I got new for you is fantastic...
Ricky Gervais: Both the Office and his "live" Stuff is great.

And even though these arn't stand ups....

Monty Python: Bought comedy to another level, They are AMAZING! John Clesse especailly

Rowan Atkinson: He is amzing in Blackadder.....

Steve Coogan: Alan Partridge is the the funniest charecter ever!

Keith Barret ( dunno the actors name): The Keith barret show is theone of the funniest on at the moment,

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-08-2005 01:02 PM

Gotta love that Jimmy Carr gag about Kurt Cobain 'Shooting his mouth off'
