Well, I'm actually not that far in, so any number of wild twists could ensue from this point.

It centres on three Russian brothers and their absurdly vile father, who is later murdered by one of them, I'm speculating for inheritance. Probably the strongest theme running through it is the nature of faith, sparked by the different religious views of the brothers.

That was a piss poor summary but I can't do much better at this point.
