I would definitely put him more in the realm of transpersonal/evolutionary psychology than zen, but I do understand what you're saying. His ideas are, without question, unconventional and have attracted their fair share of criticism, but having said that, I find that I agree one hundred percent with just about everything he asserts.

Oops - I was thinking of a totally different person: Dennis Genpo Merzel.
He wrote The Eye Never Sleeps - a book about Zen Buddhism which I think is pretty good.
He also founded the "Big Mind" process (he says you can achieve 'enlightenment' in an hour or something) which is what upsets Brad Warner.

I actually haven't read anything by Wilber.

That's honestly one of my favourite books. It's hilarious and super easy to read, I mean, I think I read it 3 times in the first week I had it. It's pretty brilliant.

It's my first David Foster Wallace, but I recently heard from 3 separate people that he's fantastic, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Infinite Jest is my first Wallace as well. I'd say he's beyond fantastic. Unless I'm too stupid to get through Infinite Jest, I'll definitely check out his short fiction and everything else.

Has anyone here read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo or any of it's sequels? I've heard about it everywhere and it's selling like crazy at the bookstore where I work, but I'm still not sure if it's worth checking out.

i picked this up yesterday and started it last night....he is such an amazing person....seems that it is simple about the people he loves and how they influenced him and his art....the first chapter is all about Johnny Mathis!....thankfully he write the same way he talks so this will go quick, be enjoyable and be re-read often!
