Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets

Written by the lead writer for the phenomenal HBO show The Wire. A first person account of David Simon's year interning with Baltimore's Homicide unit. A great view into the lives of police, the red tape, the apathy, and the drama. Definitely not the book for everyone as it is incredibly bleak, but as an up-and-coming LEO (Law Enforcement Officer), this is a brilliant look at what's to come ahead.

I am currently reading Catch 22 by Joseph Heller.

So far I've enjoyed the book. Pretty funny, and while it can get quite confusing if you're not careful its still a pretty good read. I've been slowly reading through it, but reading through it nonetheless. Not sure what I want to read after this but I've still got 370 pages left in Catch 22 so I'll decide later. Probably read a dystopian novel.

The Road - Cormac McCarthy

I'm actually just getting around to reading this one. Kind of weird that I've not read it yet, actually. It's been on my bedside table for well over a year. I'm actually really liking it so far, but not sure if it's ultimately going to be my cup o' tea.

"Before I fall" by Lauren Oliver

I highly reccomend this book. Its' plot revolves around a girl who dies and ends up repeating the last day of her life over and over, finding that even the tiniest of choices can have a remarkable effect on those around her (ala "Groundhog Day" without the humour). Extremely well written and really makes you think about your own daily choices. Very remindful of "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold but slightly better written (imho). The only horrible bit was that you wish the book was a bit longer...

^^ It'd have to be a lot better written than The lovely bones for me to pick that up, coz that book was shyte.

I know its not fashionable to read such things, but I eat things like this alive.

Not the best book I've read. Its very conversational. But he makes some amazing points, and frankly I've gained some respect for, and lost respect for other founders after reading this one.

If you have your head up your ass about the founders, but would like to know something though you don't care that much, this is your book. Who knew Jefferson was such a douche?
