The Guns of August. I'd say more, but...eh. Lazy. Check the Wikipedia article. Good book though.

If you don't mind fiction, the novel All Quiet on the Western Front is a brilliant book about the war from the German perspective.

It'd be interesting to read a fiction about it. Probably get a lot more about the war than a textbook, and a textbook would be better than what I'm reading.

Thanks for the reqs guys.

let me just say that...when i was younger i had read all three Lord of the Ring books but never got around to actually reading this

so far it's going quite quickly and i'm wondering why A) Jackson feels the need to turn this into three films B) why he is adding stuff to the story

Beware the wrath of the nerds, Mr. Jackson.

It's pretty much sacrilege to change the plot of a classic story.

I just finished:

Because I too am a sucker for epic coming-of-age fantasies. I'm also quite enamoured by the new version of the cover, because it's just about a flawless depiction of the Mat Cauthon projected in my mind.

I really just need to bite the bullet and buy a digital copy of The Eye of the World because odds of me getting around to reading my hard copy are slim, along with all the other hard copies of books I've been buying lately... I don't know why but for whatever reason my mind only wants to read stuff on my iPad now.

alright so i'm on chapter 9 which i think is pretty close to about half way through the book....and this could easily be one good length film (2:45-3:00)....and he has added soooo much crap to this....as Batlord mentioned plus what the **** is Saruman doing in the movie....i also just read that they want the movies to lead right up to the beginning of fellowship....wtf!?...that does not even make sense

sorry...i'm trying to enjoy this classic....but it's just pissing me off :)

I'm still on book 2, part of me really loves this saga but another part of me often finds it slow and tedious. I still can't decide what I really think about it.
