Well you're doing much better than I did with the first book of Wheel of Time, I actually got quite bored with it, it was only half way through book two that I became really absorbed.

I'm currently halfway through book 3 at the moment and loving it.

So it's basically Half-Life but in a fantasy setting.
Cheers. But is this world Earth or a fantasy setting? Also is it adult orientated or fantasy for anybody?

It's high fantasy, different world, different rules, but a lot of similarities to medieval history (like they all are). To answer your other question, I'd say it's more fantasy for anybody over the age of 8.

Really? Perrin was easily my least favorite of the three main dudes. Rand was always the most interesting and Matt in a lot of ways is a cliched character, but I've always been a sucker for the cliched smart ass. But Perrin was always just sort of there.

Actually Matt's my favourite, he's kinda sneaky, reminds me of a friend of mine. Especially loved it when he had the dagger.

He's my fav too. His whole story arc may not be as grand as Rand's but he's easily the most fun character of the series.

i don't know....to be honest i had not even thought about Perrin until they got separated....i always gravitate towards people who can communicate with animals....esp the ones and the way he does

my friend....who is a HUGE fan of this series tells me that soon Matt will over come everyone as a favorite character

right now i see him as a bit selfish and kind of whiny....but again i'm only about 3/4 now through the first book

The Forever War, by Joe Haldeman. This is an antiwar scifi novel written by a Vietnam veteran involving pointless fighting, brutality in the military, death of loved ones, mind control, and crazy space-travel induced time travel. Oh, and sex. Quite good so far, I would highly recommend.
