Under the Same Stars by Tim Lott

I’ve been meaning to read another novel by this guy since reading White City Blue in 2000 after it won the Whitbread Award for Best First Novel. It wasn’t as good but this guy is a pretty good writer and it’s a quick easy read that taps on some interesting themes.

This review from The Guardian is spot on:

Now on to type this summary with help from the glorious invention called "Internet"

I read the complete anthology of his poetry and short stories when I was in high school. Which story was it?

Enjoying my first of two 9-day vacations this year. Trekking to my home town to see family, old friends, a gallery exhibit, antiquing adventures, vintage bookshops, and a few Meetup events. Had time to kill before the trip so this afternoon I visited my favorite local bookshop and picked up first edition 1964-65 hardcovers of John Lennon's poetry and a 33 1/3 volume examining the sampladelic wizardry of DJ Shadow and his epic plunderphonic masterpiece, Endtroducing... from 1996. Delighted to check that one off my wish list!
