Yeah, you should definitely read it in English. Tolkien's writing style is the best part of those books and I doubt that could be replicated in another language.

Yeah, that's why I'm contemplating it (though whoever the Norwegian translator was, he or she gave a lot of charming names to people and places, I think it's probably one of the best translations ever). I don't often go for re-reads, though, so it might be awhile. But it's probably my number 1 or 2 choice for re-reads.

So these are the first two books in a trilogy by Carrie Ryan. Think Hunger Games meets World War Z meets The Village.

Someone in my book club recommended we read the second book in the trilogy (The Dead Tossed Waves), without noticing that it even was part of a series. So of course that annoyed me, and I had to read the first book first.

Also, it's a Teen Horror/Fantasy book. I don't have a problem with this, except that the teen romance aspect of the story, while cute and nostalgic at first, soon becomes tedious and annoying and entirely too sugary. But the zombie/post apocalypse part of the story is pretty fantastic. This series would be so gripping and awesome if only the author toned down the hormonal whining of the teenage main characters.

Short version: everyone is bitches.
Long version: this the most irritatingly snooty, shallow, and melodramatic book I have ever picked up. I had to write a journal about what I've read thus far, and I used it as an excuse to compose the most passive-aggressive thing I've written. I think this passage from it summarizes my feelings about this book best.

Just finished The Great Hunt and I really liked it. Jordan is doing a great job of building on the world he's created and it has sucked me in quite completely. Can't wait to start Dragon Reborn

I think it might be a nineteenth century thing. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a classic though.

Does anyone know if it would be allowed to have a thread for ebooks you want but can't find like MB's Most Wanted in the main forums?

Or if a mod could just be like "cool" that would be gr8
