Adam Wingard is directing a live-action movie adaptation and I absolutely cannot wait. I haven't seen any of the other live-action takes on the story, but Wingard's work with The Guest and You're Next was great, and I can't wait to see what he does with the hard R rating.

I've never heard anything good about any live action anime adaptation of any kind, but an R-rated Death Note sounds promising. Just so long as they can cast the right Light Yagami. So long as he gives me the heeby jeebies then I can probably forgive a lot of ****ty movie making.

So after doing a little bit more digging after my post, I've discovered it's going to be Nat Wolff (yes, of Naked Brothers Band) in the role of Light... ffs.

That means nothing to me. And I'm assuming that this is a Japanese movie? So why is a filthy roundeye playing Light?

Nah, it's an American movie, they've already done a Japanese live action film (maybe 2?). The reason why I was excited for this was a talented young director working with an incredibly creative clever story that already holds a good amount of interest in the American market thanks to the success of the anime. The hard R rating and Wingard being a huge fan of the manga prior to being involved with the film only boosted my excitement, buuuuut the casting of a former Nickelodeon child actor who's most well know roles come from coming of age romance movies based on teen novels has me questioning the studios involvement in this one big time.
