Oh and Mexican pizza from taco bell is pure goodness. |
i like anime when i was 12, Cowboy Bebop specifically. Now i just find the plots too spacy, and its hard when if you miss one episode your lost.
|
I see your point.
Its much easier to catch up with the Anime episodes you missed nowadays though. What with illegal sile sharing and Youtube and all. |
i think the reason i actually liked Cowboy Bebop was because it was about the most western anime you could get :P
i did enjoy great teacher onizuka for a while too >.> |

Even when it is licensed. It dosen't seem to really stop anybody.

i like some anime, alot of it is cheesy however. i really enjoy akira and ghost in a shell. there was a long series i watched called the lunar wars or locus wars or something... about a good and bad sword or something... it was sweet.

My favs are
series/OVA: Bleach FLCL NGE Bebop Urusei Yatsura Trigun Excel Saga Crayon Shin Chan (though I find the Adult Swim dub even more funny than the originals) Lupin The Third Inuyasha (even admist all its cliches, I still enjoy it for what it is) films: anything by Studio Ghibli Akira Ninja Scroll Perfect Blue Vampire Hunter D Wicked City Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer Cowboy Beebop: The Movie Metropolis |
Dood, i was thinking of making an anime thread!
way to steal my idea :(. Anywho, I'm starting to get into Bleach and I'm really enjoying it. Shin Chan is absolutely fantastic, albeit childish at times, and Full Metal Alchemist is good too. Naruto ftw as well. |
Yeah, Full Metal Achelmist is very good. Though later episodes have had me lost at times.
|
My favorite animes are:
Monster Death Note Hellsing Ultimate Hunter X Hunter Jyu oh Sei |
|
Sweet.
On another topic. My little brother is obsessed with Yu Gi Oh and Naruto right now. He really annoys me, its like my old Power Rangers phase. >_> |
Hmm...I've seen most of Ghibli films, my favs are Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa of the valley of the wind and Howl's moving castle (My neighbor Totoro was pretty bad, aside from Totoro himself who was adorable, there was a mountain of seriously annoying Asian, patriarchal/misogynistic stereotypes, the plot - non-existent).
Other anime I've enjoyed: Akira - in retrospect, the animation was pretty bad, so was the humor, the story was fucking mind blowing...(I downloaded Steamboy in pure exuberance, turned it off after 20 minutes, utter drivel) Grave of the fireflies - well, everyone loves this one, how can you not? Ghost in the shell - this is where I started to get really excited about anime. Having previously seen most of Ghibli films, this came as a pleasant surprise/shock to the system. A cartoon aimed exclusively at adults, with an intelligent plot and amazing animation. Only Asians could make this, because really, is anyone else this obsessed with the dystopian future (perhaps it's because for them, it's very close to reality). Paprika - one word - insane. After this I downloaded; Paranoia Agent - haven't managed to finish it, but Satoshi Kon is definitely a genius (I actually changed my nick and avatar on the Croatian queer forum into Agent Paranoia). Granted, I have had only a limited exposure to this particular genre of movies/TV, but it seems to me that more auteurs should be going in his direction. I have yet to see Perfect blue (the animation on the copy I have seemed kinda 80's which was a turnoff...it wasn't made that long ago) or Millenium actress... Cowboy Bebop - only watched a few episodes. The first one was really impressive, then the second one went childish and I gave up on it (I'm sorry, I just don't dig Japanese humor). Plus, it seemed like it should last longer than 20 minutes, there isn't enough time for a proper plot development. I have bookmarked some TV anime (is there a special name for that?) because I have a feeling it's an untapped well of ideas, but there's so much of it out there I got discouraged (I shop based on animation primarily, I hate those big-eyes, huge beads of sweat and whatnot animation styles). So I'd like some help in that department, I want serious, preferably brutal anime, with good animation. Any ideas? |
Paranoia Agent. Dammit I knew I forgot something.
|
Elfen Lied reduced me to tears.
|
Samurai Pizza Cats.
|
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children was a great movie.
|
I don't think that falls under anime...
|
It does.

Says who?

Best anime of all time: Gravitation.
Best manga in the entire universe, and no there will never be a better one: Yotsuba&! It's true what's written on the back of the book. Yotsuba&! Should be in every manga lovers bookshelf. |

WTF was with the one that was all about baking? >_> |
somebody reccomend me a really western anime, like cowboy bebop-in the sense that its americanised, and each episode has its own sotry
Thats the good thing about that show, each episode concluded itself. You didnt have to read ****ing faqs to understand wtf was going on. |
For example if you miss just one episode of FMA you're pretty much screwed as far as knowing what the hell is going on is concerned.
|
I like Full Metal Alchemist, Trinity Blood and Samurai 7, but I rarely have time to watch them considering the only channel I get that plays anime is Cartoon Network, and then they only come on at night. I'm also not going to pay $20 for like 4 episodes. So yeah, I either watch some that friends have or I just download.

I really fucking hate it when they just have a bullshit episode, like the one about Momo's past, even though it had Toshiro in it. Or the one about the Uruhara shop with Jinta and Ururu, and they have to fight hollows. Those are ****ing gayz. They do nothing to progress the story. |
Actually the one on Momo was an important part of the story. It explained her relationships with Aizen and Toshiro, which of course played a big part in the Soul Society arc.
And like I said, fillers can still be good. I liked the one about Ikkaku teaching Kendo. |
