What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

Saw this last night. I had no idea what to expect, but, helped along with random reviews that usually can't be trusted on an internet streaming site, my boredom got the best of me.

I don't really have many ways to describe this movie, as it's not a typical movie in my opinion, but I can say that it manages to make you feel completely different emotions simultaneously, and actually become confused about which is the right emotion. It's not a bad thing. There's a sort of flow of comedy and depressive darkness that intertwines slowly at first, leading ever up to the end, when both emotions are wrenched from you simultaneously, and if you step back and analyze the situation, you're left only with "Wtf? Am I laughing or crying?".

I was really struck with that unlikely parallel, emotionally, and I assume that was the intent. It worked well.
As far as the story itself, it's not mind-blowing, but it's executed well and resonates easily. It builds itself into the comedy and drama at different times, and unpredictably so, and you're left there throughout the entire film wondering how you're supposed to feel.
I think that is the triumph of the film. I think that was the intent. The thing is, you're ok with feeling either way, so you're never really let down. Just maybe jerked around a bit, but accepting of the directions.

Anyway, I think it's a fantastic movie.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes drama/comedy, but moreso to those who like to analyze how those types of films flow and make you feel.

That's an ingenious film, saw it the day after the guy who recommended it to me got expelled, because I felt bad that I never took up his suggestion. I loved it the whole way through, even though the characters (albeit sparsely) said phrases like "is that a metaphor?" (nudge nudge, wink wink) and became a student film from time to time. It made me fall into hysterics--mostly the scenes between Hesher and the grandma--and it saddened me at parts as well. Overall, this is a very good film, glad that you got to watch it, Freebase.

I've been going through all time sci fi lists and seeing the ones I haven't seen. I'll have to say that this had one of the more beautiful moments. The seen at the end(ish) where Edward G. Robinson was on his death bed was wonderful enough but after learning that he died of cancer ten days later really makes the scene even more special. I mean Heston shed actual tears. He wasn't even looking at a gun. That was a bad joke.

Soylent Green is an essential dystopian scifi film. I love it. It's one of those movies you should pass along to someone else who hasn't seen it. I love the way it's built up, even if you can guess what's going on early on.

So I got roped into watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1 and 2, the last book. I was the right age to read the books - 4th/5th grade when they came out, but only read through the 5th book. So I didn't even know how the series was going to end when I sat down to finally find out. I'm damn surprised to say it was good fun. Lots of fighting and deaths and wow. I mean, they had more happen than in the rest of the damn series! Phew, and it didn't even end how I'd heard. So I had a damn good time, surprisingly.

watched this one last night, picked it up second hand. Had not seen it before.. and I liked it. Would not say it is in the best horror movies of all-time list or anything, but as a film from the golden age of slashers it was well made, we paced and I liked the ending. Was not a total cliched slasher film, had a few elements to it I would say stood out compared to most I have seen from that era.

rilly? i thought they were pretty imbalanced - lots of talking and wandering around the forest for the 1st part

the 2nd part was too much action and no plot

i suppose if you watched them all in one go, it's not too bad

but separately? errr.................

Yeah, they were back to back and I had the latter in mind, what with all the unexpected action.

continuing on my classic horror film spree:

One of my all-time favorites. Bob Clark (who would go on to do A Christmas Story) directed this one. Credited with being the first (modern day) slasher film. While it is debatable as to which the first slasher film actually was, it is the one to combine all of the elements that would become the standard for slashers to come.

Overall I find it to be a good creepy classic, with some an interesting atmosphere.

One to see if you are a horror fan and have not watched it.

Personally I think I prefer this one to Halloween.

Oh man, I had forgotten about that movie! It's amazing how many movies where reality is an illusion came out around that time.
