I expected another prison break movie. You know the one. The first half hour describes the kind of prison that they're in and that they need to get out. The next half hour something insane happens that puts the protagonist in a spell that he can't get out of and he and a bunch of mates plan a breakout where they almost get caught like three times, lose a man or two, but eventually get out.

This isn't that film. Fans of Christopher Nolan are going to love the timeline and how the plot progresses. It's got a Memento-esque feel to it. The movie was written for Brain Cox and man does he make those who made that decision proud because he did a fantastic job.

It's on netflix instant I believe so it should be easy to find but you really need to check this out if you want a gritty raw prison escape movie that isn't like every other gritty raw prison escape movie.

9/10
I guessed the film within half hour That doesn't mean that I'm all that clever, I have just seen too many films and I found it so built up by many people that the narrative was far too average for it NOT to have a twist and therefore disappointing. Performances are superb though.

A 4 hour documentary?! I like a lot of Tom Petty's music but surely this is stretching a guy's music to breaking point considering his voice can really annoy me at times but this was damn good I have to say. I did watch it in two halves though!

A cult classic in the making. Insanely violent and even amateurish at times but that doesn't detract from some very unique scenes and a sense of claustrophobia not seen since Deadbeat At Dawn or Fight For Your Life.

Rarely have I watched a movie with so few establishing shots that can still paint a unique (albeit screwed up) world.

Trailer NSFW and if this was Asian cinema everyone would be falling all over themselves for it! Italian Horror cinema has reclaimed it's throne!

It certainly isn't fun although it looks like it. It's very dark and twisted but I think many may be put off by the lo fi aspect of it. I certainly wasn't though.

If you want to see bodies being pulverised in insane fight scenes and have fun then The Story Of Ricki Oh is for you NSFW:

I thought about seeing that, but I figured I'd already seen Battle Royale, and I had no desire to watch a bad, pg-13, teenage girl version of it.

Ah, I saw that notorious thing ages ago. The final boss fight is probably my favourite use of obvious rubber suit in a movie.

Watched The Avengers last week. To quote somebody, "This is what Michael Bay would make if he wasn't a horny neanderthal."

Planning on watching Ben Hur tonight. Never seen it before, so I'm looking forward to it!
