Youth in Revolt.

I went into this movie not impressed because Cera is so one dimensional and plays the same character in every single friggin' movie and tv show.

I don't even like that character he plays but I ended up feeling like this was an okay movie. I don't approve of the overall message of "girls only like bad boys and batshit crazy guys". I'd give it 2/5. I liked all of the supporting cast that popped up in different places. Ray Liotta, Justin Long and Steve Buscemi.

I watched Annie Hall again this evening. When I first saw it I was 15 years old and I wasn't able to spot the humour in it and it kind of tainted my opinion of Woody Allen. I watched Zelig a couple of weeks ago with some friends and thought that it was brilliant, so I thought I'd give his most popular film another try. Needless to say I'm a huge fan of this film now.

Under The Skin

so i finally got to see one of my most anticipated films for this year....and it was everything i thought it would be plus 100000000000 more

it's weird Exoskeletal and i were having a pm conversation about The Rover....and we both agreed that it is by far the best film released this year....i would say just about 14 minutes into Under The Skin my mind had changed

i'm not gonna get much into it....as Exoskeletal is much better at this stuff than i am....but i will say

this film is full of extremely long slow shots that are simply perfect....like 2001 perfect....this movie could have sucked in every other way....and just these shots would have made it interesting....and when i say full.....almost every shot is over 5 seconds....and the color....fuck i wish i had seen this in a theater....there are three scenes that i would give almost anything to see on a big screen....needless to say if you don't like very slow films.....skip this one

basically it's about an alien of sorts....played flawlessly by Scarlett Johansson...and i mean flawlessly.....seriously i cannot get over how amazing she is in this film....she is driving a van around Scotland and picking up men and ultimately leading them to their doom

what's interesting is a good portion of the seduction scenes are actually real....the podcast Filmspotting did an interview with the director and they talked about how they had Johansson driving around in what is basically a panel van and trying to pick up strangers on the street....and that real reaction is very evident in the film

and those Scottish accents are real thick

what this film ultimately ends up being is a dramatic look at what it means to be human.....but told in such a surrealistic fashion....that by the ending you are either going to hate this.....or talk about it for a month

right when the credits started i looked at my friend Neil and said i'm not sure if this is one of the best films i have ever seen or the worst.....went to the washroom...came out and said it's by far one of the best films i have ever seen....then we both saw it's based off of a novel

the book is on my tablet and i'll start reading it when i'm done here

i will say this....after reading a short synopsis of the book....i know the book goes into great detail about what is going on here

this movie works best not knowing at all what's going....it's defiantly...in my opinion part of the greatness of this

Sounds incredible although Glazer hasn't done anything for me since Sexy Beast I will still check this out. The description reminds me tonally of Valhalla Rising which I loved (and everyone else hated) which is enough for me to check it out.

I liked it. Sure it was a little absurd at points...but it's a ****ing zombie film. It's nice to see Brad Pitt play a role that isn't Tyler Durden. I thought it was shot well for the most part, which is another reason why I liked it. The ultraravenous zombies using themselves as a ladder to get over the wall was pretty awesome. I'd give it a 4/5.

yeah the only other film i've seen by him is Sexy Beast....and his Radiohead videos

i think this film is going to cause some good arguments....watched it again last night and loved it even more....esp. since i'm reading the book in parallel....which is almost nothing like the film in story....but has the same despondent surrealism

it has seriously easily made it's way into a top 10 films of all time list for me

i REALLY need to get off my ass and watch Valhalla Rising.....i love both Bronson and Drive

I had such a problem with this. It was, and still is, the only film I have gotten up to go pee without a caution in the wind of what I may be missing. I just found the whole thing rushed, absurd, and the complete opposite of how I like my zombies. They were just WAY too fast. Hell, Zach Snyder's remake was vastly better than this and I thought those zombies were too fast. I thought it was junk.

For me it had its moments, like the two runway scenes in Korea, but right around the moment when the plane crashed the movie crossed over into such absurdity that it really lost me.
