Well it is a movie about a vicious killing machine from another planet that finds itself on a colony of prisoners who have no weapons of any kind. I wouldn't be at my most etiquette in that situation either.

As far as storytelling goes I'd agree. I think The Shining is crazier when you look at all the detail though.
