A guide to recognizing your saints

Review: Very nice movie. It shows nowadays youth and crime in a brutally but still poetic/romantic style.

Watched it late the other night on Channel 4 as I couldn't sleep and there was nothing else on. Quite a nice idea for a film, a group of writers are sitting around in a restaurant at the beginning of the film discussing whether life is more naturally comic or tragic and when they offer a basic idea for a story it is then played out in two different worlds, one with a comic spin on it the other a tragic.

I did enjoy it but I was quite tired. I'm not too sure how I feel about it though. Usually I would watch it again when I was a little more alert and I could really pay attention but I thought it was rather forgettable, so I'm not sure I'll ever get round to it.

This was made on a $1000 budget. It was really good for what it was: an indie-comedy poking fun at present day horror films. Nothing special but I think these film makers (the duplass brothers) have some potential and we may see bigger films from them in the future.

Love all things horror! has anyone seen Brain dead? Peter Jackson at his best....just watched Hellboy 2 as well, Guillermo del Toro directed it, the same guy who did Pas Labyrinth.

DiG! (2004)

Documentary film cut from seven years of footage on the trials and tribulations of two bands and their turbulent friendship/rivalry.
One (the Dandy Warhols) becomes wildly successful. The other (the Brian Jonestown Massacre) plagued by dope, 60's revivalism and the insane genius (this is for the audience to decide) of Anton Newcombe struggles to survive and progress with his unpredictable behaviour.
The BJM line-ups depicted in the mid-90's sparked the careers of the Warlocks, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and others and arguably kicked off the rock revival of the early noughties, at least on the West Coast.

But yeah the film is good fun, exposes the fine line between art and bullsh$t you always knew was there... I saw this when it came out at a midnight screening and I was the only one in the theatre. Bought a BJM album the next day... though the first few Dandy's albums probably wipe the floor with them in technical terms you know... they played the game, just listen to them now. And they're rich.

i just saw A Series Of Unfortunate Events with my girlfriends today.

it's an awesome movie that is kind of sad. but it's made by nick so it got good. jim carrey in it so it was kind wacky at some parts. it makes you feel for the twists and turns sometimes. overall good movie, one of those movies that say "hey...keep your head up". lol

Alpha Dog is so fukking sad no matter how many times I watch it. It actually has a great cast (even Justin Timberlake)

Pineapple Express is hilarious....nuff said

Far as I know he's Chinese, but came to the US in his twenties. I agree though, he's a damn good film maker and the movie was good, though some parts of it hit a little too close to home. What attracted me to the film initially was the cast actually...and they didn't disappoint. I'd give it 8/10.

Saw these two on DVD.

"My Summer of Love" - An ok movie about two girls crushing on each during the summer.

"Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" - Funny movie about about a bungled heist.
