^It was nominated for an Academy Award last year, and lost to Up. Another reason to hate Pixar.

Pixar is awesome and Up is a very good movie. Not an undeserved win (although I quite liked The secret of the Kells).

If compared to the other animation techniques, from classic 2D animation, to stop-motion ones... you just lose the creative atmosphere and space, and the team spends its time on the technical details.

they are great technically, but they are also great creatively. what's not to like? name another animation studio that has come close to the quality and quantity of their output since Toy Story.

I never was a fan of major studios.
And I still can't see what's this 3D animation is bringing to the movie, other than hard work.

i'm not sure why a major studio should be ragged on for being successful. and 3D animation is much easier to produce then hand-drawn 2D animation. meanwhile, it gives similar visual clarity.

what does 2d animation bring to the story? nothing, it's just a medium.

personally, i think pixar's stories are a cut above most other children's movies.
