I'm not touching that movie with a 50 foot pole. I was already pretty skeptical before it even came out and some of the reviews that I've been hearing from friends just cements my decision even further to skip out on it.

Pfft a gritty Superman film...who thought that was a good idea?

Yeah, I was always a Marvel/Darkhorse guy anyway. **** DC Comics.

Everyone who saw how much money and prestige Batman movies made after Nolan popularized the dark and gritty reboot?

Yeah suits! that's who but it's definitely what fans wanted for Superman or at least that's what I feel.

Yeah, like I said as far as visual experiences/ sensory overloads go it's one of the better ones, I mean if you sat through any of Michael Bay's Transformer movies then I think you should go see this as an act of penance, but in terms of it being an engaging, intelligent, and thought provoking movie, it falls short.

The more I think about it, the more I kind of hope Warner Bros. decides against doing a Justice League movie just because everyone thinks they should to compete against Marvel and The Avengers. Their track record at this point for characters other than Batman are pretty abysmal and unless they get their own Joss Whedon i.e. someone with a profound understand and love for the genre, I can't help but think whatever they cobble together will just be a collection of ticked boxes with no heart or soul.

Honestly I have a feeling the Superhero movie domination is going to peak soon, most likely with how people react to Guardians of the Galaxy, but if Warner Bros. makes a Justice League movie just because and it tanks, I could easily see the genre crashing.

Rushmore (1999)

Taped this on cable over the weekend, not having seen it for nearly a decade. Now I'm going to have to buy it on dvd so I don't go too long without watching it again. I had a Rushmore inspired dream last night where Jason Schwartzman was playing pranks on me because I was spending time with Olivia Williams. Dammit, Max, if you want her, get her in your own dreams not mine!

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Wonder Woman and how badly they screw her up. Also the comedic Ant Man tease trailer got me excited. I don't feel like the Justice League movie is going to go over well.

The action scenes in Man Of Steel looked like they were modeled after a fighting game. Took me out of the movie. And I really enjoyed the first half.

So what did y'all think of Man of Steel compared to Superman Returns (2006)?
