Happy go lucky - Mike Leigh - 8/10 Classic Leigh. Brilliant and uplifting.

Redbelt - David Mamet - 8/10 Possibly the best damn martial arts film I've ever seen.

I own just a bit over 500 I think, between DVDs, recordings, and VHSs (we go back old school)... but most of which I've already seen and are quite older, so I don't bother to review most of them on here. The newer ones I usually manage through On Demand or HBO.

At first you are thinking WTF is this but you slowly immerse yourself into the film and are blown away by it's intelligence and complexity. Shot with a crew of 5 and costing $7,000 it blows the crap out of virtually every sci fi film since 2001. If you have any interest in time travel, physics or just damn good cerebral films then get and watch it.

Original, but very droll in procession.

That was the whole point. It was meant to be as realistic as possible not fantastical.

The worst Romero zombie movie by far. Watchable but disappointing.

Well then you'll be happy to know that he has a very small role and acts atypically (no humor to speak of).

The history boys - 6/10 Plays out like a British Dead poets society only somehow even nerdier and with some interesting gay subplots.

Presque rien - 6/10 Strained drama, but well filmed and acted. Bonus points for an actual penis shot and some rough beach sex.

The last movie I went to see was Pride and Glory with Colin Farrell, Ed Norton, and Jon Voight. This movie was originally supposed to shoot with Mark Walberg, Hugh Jackman, and Nick Nolte, but since they were going to start filming this at the beginning of 2002 (right after 9/11), they didn't do it out of respect for our policemen since it's a movie about corruption in the NYPD. I was glad, however, that they decided to finally film it with the likes of Colin, Ed, and Jon. They honestly spared no expense in making each sequence as realistic as possible to the point of thinking that it's really happening. A good example is this involved a horrific scene involving torture.
