Gal I'd wager.

Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010)

I haven't enjoyed this much audio-visual goodness in quite some time. I can't decide which is better - the film or the soundtrack (the epic 1966 - Let The New Age Of Enlightenment Begin especially)

Saw The Big Short last night.

Best black comedy I've seen since In The Loop. Virtuoso performance by Bale, as usual. And the movie really broke down the roots of the financial disaster of 2007-2008.

Very sobering story about how greed corrupts.

I'm with the crowd that agrees Blue Ruin is superior, but that Green Room is solid. What's the next color this guys gonna make next? Red Rocket? Amiritefellas?
I thought Green Room was a borefest. Seemingly no plot. Patrick Stewart's character was supposed to be intimidating and scary and ended up being a total idiot, who employed idiots to do his deeds. Well we only have a few hours so grab a knife and go get shot. Ok we need to do this now heres a baseball bat go get killed. What a boring load of ****. This movie sucked on a very high level. Absolute dog crap, avoid at all cost. 1/5 stars. I will never trust IMDB again.

Bummer that you feel that way. What made me love it was the atmosphere, acting, and heavy doses of reflexive, dark humour.

I watched Time Lapse recently. The acting was hammy as **** and the ending was stupid (felt like they had to rush writing or shooting it or something like that), but apart from that it was really interesting. These three friends find a camera that takes a picture one day into the future and it starts to **** with everything. Really interesting exploration of the bootstrap paradox (paradox of time travel that occurs when an object or piece of information sent back in time becomes trapped within an infinite cause-effect loop in which the item no longer has a discernible point of origin, and is said to be “uncaused” or “self-created”).

I also thought this was better than expected. I'm also a little bummed they didn't continue the story with new characters, but considering the vibe is so much different, I think that's ok. Actually, the vibe and style of comedy was the most disappointing part - it was very modern and fitting with the styles of the comedians, but it was more a surreal satire while the originals were grounded in realism (with extraordinary things happening around them, of course) and the characters just happened to have great comedic timing. THAT is what made the original such a classic.

like Dazed and Confused this film is simple in plot....the transition of youth into adulthood and like Dazed and Confused it's well written, well shot, and very well acted....another great movie of just watching people live
I haven't seen this yet, but interesting story - I went to middle school/high school with the guy who plays Nesbit (who is also Dwight in the Walking Dead). He was an interesting guy. One night he was hanging out with my brother and got hammered. That night, he busted into my room crying about how worthless he is and how he wanted to be more like my brother and me. People, man.

Watched Hardcore Henry yesterday.
The whole first-person gimmick wasn't as annoying as I expected it to be, but I wouldn't say it made the film particularly outstanding either. Overall it was partly enjoyable, partly a little boring. Also the main villain kinda sucked.
I did enjoy seeing the authentic russian locations and some of the russian banter was pretty hilarious.

The fact that you were expecting it to be annoying rather than amusing shows you to be a fag or something less homophobic but still insulting to your sexuality. Hardcore Henry 4 lyfe.

I expected all the action to be really blurry, but it actually mostly worked pretty well.
