It's all about The Spy Next Door.

I need to go look up Tony Jaa again. Ong-Bak 1 and The Protector were two of the best modern martial arts movies I've seen.
Oh damn, I forgot about Tony Jaa. I saw all the Ong Bak movies and was really impressed. Now I want to go rewatch those. Is The Protector a remake of the Jackie Chan movie? I'll have to check that one out too.

Gordon Liu is another underrated martial arts actor who never really broke into the US...check out the 36th Chamber of Shaolin movies. They are amazing. You may also recognize him in various roles throughout the Kill Bill movies (one of the roles being Pai Mei).

Nah, The Protector is a different thing entirely. It's actually a dubbed version of Tom-Yum-Goong, but I can't ****ing remember that name so I just go with the American name. The final scene is a thing of martial arts beauty. Earlier in the movie is also the only scene I've ever seen with a capoeira fighter.

I've definitely been meaning to watch those. I love old Shaw Brothers movies, but I've been slacking.

Spoiler for Spoilers:
The final 3 scenes in Sicario are so damn good it's ridiculous. Alejandro finally getting to exact revenge on the guy that murdered his wife and daughter is so intense. "It's time for you to meet God". Then him confronting Kate... 2 people in front of a camera and crew and still able to pull off those kinds of emotions. He's got a gun at her throat ready to kill her, yet still wipes the tears from her face in a fatherly kind of way. Wow. And finally the reality of life in Juarez. Wife and son know that dad got caught up and is dead, yet life goes on via a kid's soccer match. I'm beginning to think that Sicario eclipses Traffic for that genre. Benicio is an acting God in my book.

You guys talking about Jet and Jackie need to check out Won Bin.

I ****ing love Sicario. Denis Villeneuve is easily one of my favourite working directors. Can't wait for Arrival, looks like it's going to be another great flick.

The Big Short

Excellent with a capital T. Powerhouse acting crew, gripping dialogue, and great camerawork. Very informative as well.

All the Jackie Chan loving and not one mention of the awesome Who Am I? movie?

Also I disagree with that Jet Li opinion. All his movies that hr has against Jason Statham are awesome.

Tony Jaa being beat up by Paul Walker in the last Fast and Furious movie was outright upsetting along with Michelle Rodriguez beating what's her face the UFC chick. I know blah blah blah to advance the plot but those two fights were tragedies. They shouldn't have lost them.

They're also, like, actors acting in a script...

Who Am I? is firmly in the post-Hollywood breakout era, so I didn't mention it. But you are right - it's also a good one. I actually enjoy quite a few of his post-breakout movies. Hell, I even have a soft spot for the first Rush Hour.

I just can't get into Jet Li. Maybe it's because the few movies I have seen of his (The One and Romeo Must Die, among a few others) are pretty much crap.

His Hong Kong **** is where it's at. Some of the best fight scenes ever. I'd honestly take him over Bruce Lee as far as fight scenes go. Check out Fist of Legend if you haven't already.
