Making him Frankenstein while still being Michael Myers would have been the most cloying PG-13 bull****.

Making him a dime-a-dozen psycho adds nothing to the genre.
Does it really make sense to call the OG unstoppable force of evil a dime-a-dozen?

I would generally agree for more complexity but I don't think that adding complexity in that manner would suit Myers at all.

When that OG unstoppable force of evil has been forced down our throats and done to death for decades, then yes.

Same with Michael's counselor dude.
See, I like the Rob Zombie movies as their own thing, but the whole giving Micheal Myers a back story completely deviates from the original vision of "The Shape" that made Micheal what he is. Making him a sympathetic character ruins the image of the unstoppable evil. Plus, they already did that with Jason.

That's why I like the new movie. Where the complexity doesn't come from a cheap and uninformed representation of abuse to build empathy for a mass murderer. It focuses on a more thoughtfully done portrayal of PTSD in Laurie. Micheal isn't supposed to be a complex character, he's meant to be a manifestation of evil. That's why giving him an explanation or backstory in any form ruins it.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.
