You should read it. It's pretty short, not really a huge commitment or anything. I have a hard time saying that it's better than the flick, because the visual element and stylistic changes to the plot give the movie a unique feeling, but I think overall the book tells a more interesting story, and nails certain things that I think the movie lacked.

And it really is a shame that so many integral parts of the story got clipped for the movie. Like everyone's obsession with animals, Deckard's wife, Mercerism, and the uncertainty of whether or not Deckard himself is just an android with false memories implanted into him (which apparently the original cut of the movie was going to touch on, before the studio execs decided that it was too confusing or whatever, and now exists only as that single salvaged scene in the final cut where Deckard dreams about a unicorn).

I'm pretty sure my brother has the book so, maybe.

I'd like someone to make a movie that's faithful to the book.

I watched "The Equalizer 2" last night. I think I might like it better than the first one, for the same reason I liked "Deadpool 2" better than the first film; the main characters could get stright into the action, no need to spend half the movie filling in back stories. Definitely worth a watch!

I think I will honestly make an effort to try to start watching as many WW2 movies as I can. It is just interesting to see movies about that war made from different perspectives.

Anyways, "White Tiger" is a pretty good film about..well it is basically "Moby Dick" except the White Whale is now a german tiger tank painted white, taking down the Russian army. The interesting thing is that it supposedly did happen and this tank alone destroyed over 2000 Russian tanks. It was never destroyed but just appeared and dissapeared like a ghost. The Nazi army denied it existence but it was thought to be one of their experimental weapons, able to load fast and move faster then any tank at the time.

And "April 9th" about the Danish bicycle army who kept fighting even after Denmark capitulated because..well they didn't know. I just think the whole concept of them was kind of weird. I just kept thinking during the film "Did they lock their bikes when they left them?". You kind of feel sorry for them throughout the film,..it couldn't have been great to face panzer tanks with rifles and bicycles.

In regards to Rutger Hauer films, I think the only time I seriously questioned his acting choices was when he did this role:

Black Book, A Woman in Berlin, Kriegerin, Sophie Scholl = all WWII related movies that are really good. Kriegerin is a bit different since it's in modern times, but it's about Neo Nazism.

And of course The Pianist. Only one of the best movies ever made.

I haven't seen any of those so I'll take a look.

Hostiles. It was ok. Christian Bale tries too hard to act sometimes.

His character is supposed to be this tormented soul, but he comes across as 'Look at me acting like I'm a tormented soul'.

The Ascent and Ivan's Childhood are both phenomenal WWII films (that avoid fetishizing war to boot).

Been going through my collection of Resident Evil films today. Yesterday, it was Underworld. I think I prefer the Underworld series, just because of the supernatural aspect of it.
