I think my favorite thing about is flipping on its head the standard dark, moody color palate of a horror movie and making it so bright and optimistic in a surreal way. Oddly unsettling.

Bullet Train
I saw this a few days ago and really enjoyed it. Great fight scenes, a cool visual aesthetic, and pretty funny. I went in the middle of the day on a weekday and even though there was only one other person in theater, we both laughed a lot.

Watched Borgman for the third or fourth time. Why the **** is this movie so underrated? It is just ****ing perfect. And why are so few people talking about how absolutely hilarious it often is?

Only heard about that movie after watching Hereditary - would you say it's better or worse than that one?

I wasn't super into Hereditary tbh. Like I liked the vibe and all but it just didn't leave the biggest impression. Maybe I just need to give it another shot but I've liked each of the director's movies better than the last. So Hereditary < The Witch < Midsommar. And The Northman is by the same director, right? So I really need to see that.

^You're mixing up Robert Eggers and Ari Aster.

Most people say otherwise but I thought Midsommar was way better. It's more original and focused. Hereditary has higher highs though. Well, if you can call extremely compelling depictions of grief high.

Fallen (2022) was the funnest time I had with a bad movie since The Room.

Last Night In Soho was fantastic, had a really well done Persona-esque identity crisis that developed in pretty surprising ways.

Belfast - Solid drama that becomes a satire if you pay any level of attention to the soundtrack. Lot of good but inconsistent cinematography that made it feel like the script was written around the shots.

Who Killed Captain Alex?

Godly. I think this is the most a movie has ever made me laugh. Gotta see more films with video jockeys if they're anywhere near as good as Emmie. So quotable, so sincere, so many shot for shot ripoffs from Bruce Lee movies, so goddamn fun. I dare you not to love this movie.

MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE!

Wasn't a fan at all. Thought it was college creativewriting level in terms of the second half "twist" and fantasy inclusion.
