That's why you don't use the pull out method.

Final 2022 list after seeing basically everything I could get my hands on:

20. Decision to Leave - Park Chan-wook
19. Bodies Bodies Bodies - Halina Reijn
18. Everything Everywhere All At Once - Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Kwan
17. Barbarian - Zach Cregger
16. Avatar: The Way of Water - James Cameron
15. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Ryan Coogler
14. Pearl - Ti West
13. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero - Tetsuro Kodama
12. The Banshees of Inisherin - Martin McDonaugh
11. The Whale - Darren Aronofsky
10. Top Gun: Maverick - Joseph Kosinski
9. Glass Onion - Rian Johnson
8. The Batman - Matt Reeves
7. Babylon - Damien Chazelle
6. RRR - S. S. Rajamouli
5. The Menu - Mark Mylod
4. Triangle of Sadness - Ruben Östlund
3. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish - Joel Crawford
2. Nope - Jordan Peele
1. The Northman - Robert Eggers

Puss in Boots blew my ****ing socks off, that is not an ironic ranking

It's odd.

I'm totally okay with Pussy Boots being on your list but the fact that you liked that Glass Onion movie so much pretty much negates anything else you have to say. That movie sucked my balls.

At least I'm not an absolute cringelord that puts Aftersun in first place. What in the ****? And I'm even someone with daddy issues so you'd think it would have worked for me. Snooze

Good final ~10 minutes though

I mean, Aftersun was a beautiful film and also the directors first. I don't think a film so subtle could possible draw in hate but that's just me.

Easier to imagine how a pretentious arthouse film would draw hate than a straightforward mystery comedy

Well that's my point there. It's fine if the movie didn't resonate with you but to find such a subtle film pretentious is confusing to me. The praise being heaped onto it, praise I agree with overall, is because it's so stripped down and quiet which is kind of the antithesis of pretentious behavior. The praise is literally about how much the film said without really just coming out and saying it.

Nothing happens in my movie and that’s why it’s ~so deep~

The movie is only receiving praise because it’s very hard to see right now so only giga movie nerds are seeking it out. As soon as normal people see it there will be plenty of hate. I’d rather watch Glass Onion fifty more times
