A crime drama which takes place in a small town in America during the mid 1950's. Various characters are shown going about their daily lives in the town while a "salesman" and two "rookie salesmen" plan a bank heist. The first 2/3 of the film moves rather slowly while the different characters are shown and developed before being brought together by happenstance for the final 1/3 of the film leading up to the robbery.

Yes. I used to watch a lot of Hammer Horror films back in the 70's when I was in my late preteens through my teens. There was a movie theater near me that used to show double features on Saturday afternoons for 75 cents. Hammer films were a regular feature there. I still occasionally stumble across one online, that I haven't seen, and watch it when I'm in the mood.

I think this is the most recent Hammer film that I've seen. Not horror, though...




A fairly amusing sci-fi flick about an astronaut who is working from the moon, salvaging various items of debris/junk from space and accepts an offer from a sleazy & ruthless businessman to maneuver a small, valuable asteroid into crashing on the surface of the moon, so they can recover the contents of the asteriod. The film is a mix of sci-fi, drama, action, & comedy. A lot of the props & clothing reminded me of the 'UFO' and 'Space 1999' TV shows from the late 60's and early to mid 70's and I suspect that those shows probably used some of the same props & clothing. A bit of music-related trivia that I noticed during the closing credits was that the theme song for the film was sung by Julie Driscoll.

Loved Lars von Trier's Europa. A perfect film. Literally hypnotic. Easily one of his best.

The opening is, among other things, a homage to the hypnotherapy scene in Tarkovsky's Mirror, except here it's you the viewer being hypnotized, not the boy.

I'll watch anything with Vincent Price. This one is great fun, though overall perhaps a touch too stupid. The director worked on the Tara King season of the Avengers, when became more about slapstic than style. A hint of that here too, though there are stabs at style in the scenes featuring Price.
