So absurdly funny ! Seems the Tenacious Band is officially a band that's been going on tours, even before the movie was released.

Of course, Tenacious D formed sometime in the 90s. They didn't release an album until 2001 though. There's even a somewhat old television series about the band.

how can people not know they're a real band? jack black was a hilarious bad ass rocker way before he was in crap scripted comedy movies.

tenacious d > all other bands

so funny they're beyond awesome.

Rambo : first Blood (1982)

Would you believe I'd only seen bits and pieces of this and not the full thing until a few days ago? I've been missing out, it's a great movie - kind of an action-filled suspense drama. Everyone knows the war vet character Rambo of course. In the first film, John Rambo is treated pretty badly by the police in a xenophobic hick town and escapes out into the wilderness. When the cops come after him, he puts up quite a fight.

Semi spoiler alert : It was a good film but what really made it special was Rambo's monologue close to the end. Through much of the film, he seems a bit like an efficient killing machine .. but in the end he reveals all his weaknesses and we see that the machine has some broken parts and is ultimately just a man. That scene was even a little touching, brilliant acting by Sly - brilliant! Now on to part 2.

Agreed. Amidst all the action, I thought that monologue was the definite highlight. It caught me off-guard, and showed off some surprisingly fantastic acting skills by Stallone. I have only watched Rambo recently also, it never really struck me as a film I would enjoy. Needless to say, it exceeded my expectations and managed to be something more than an over-the-top actioner. I've heard nothing good about the sequels, though, so I'll probably give them a miss.

Nice to see it's not just me who thought the monologue was brilliant :) I've seen the third a couple of times, the fourth I saw in the cinema, but the second I've only seen bits of. The way the first movie ended really makes me want to pick up the second one.

The third is a bit of a cheesy action farce. It's quite entertaining if not exactly brilliant. Besides, the one man army takes on a whole damned soviet battalion or what you call it in Afghanistan and it has an interesting showdown between a tank and a helicopter. I'd say it's worth the watch if you're interested in Rambo and where the stories take him, but if not - then meh.

The fourth I liked a lot. Again, Rambo's a very mysterious figure in that one and the character doesn't have a lot to say. It's not so much substance as it is a gore-fest. Most of the film is absolute carnage and instead of blood flying around, it looks more like ground meat splatter. Anyways, I'd say it's entertaining and a good action flick if not much else.
