From Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes). Very good for a directorial debut but it's not exactly a barrel of laughs. The plot is hard to describe as the film is more about interaction and human emotion but that is not to say there isn't a plot. Suffice to say it's about broken people trying to reconnect with life. It's bleak but oddly rewarding and the performances from everyone are spectacular. If you are a dog lover this film may upset you but as the disclaimer states : no animals were harmed in the making of this film.
It was hard for me to take the female lead seriously cause she's a main character in Peep Show (which is hilarious, if you have netflix you need to watch it).


Other than that it was an ok movie. I did like how it ended, and it was quite sad/disturbing.

Never said it was entertaining. It is a thought provoking film that takes a very serious, in depth look at actual events in the life of Akiyuki Nosaka, the writer of the book the movie is based on. I just find actual, real-life events more interesting/worthy than fiction. Not bashing Miyazaki, he's an absolute genius, I just think Grave is the better movie. Not by much, mind you.

Man I hate Sophie. Peep Show was so great. I just finished it two days ago. Seven series and I could have gone for a little more.

yeah dude i just watched it. It might as well be a miyazaki movie, thankfully it excludes a lot of the fluff and formulaic bullcrap the latter studio gibli films have devolved into.

I loved it man super duper sad tho.

Mononoke is still the best tho. Whoever did the voice of the mother wolf in that film deserved some type of award.
