Bergman's The Silence (1963). Very engaging, intelligent, erotic. A perfect film. Bergman understood that there's nothing as erotic as two women talking about sex and getting aroused by it, perhaps in strange and quasi-incestuous ways. The handiwork of a man obsessed with the female brain, as he should be.

A smart and enjoyable slasher. We watched it late last night to take the edge off having to race to the bomb shelter twice, and now I need to get my chick the Mia Goth overalls. She would look super hot in them and, knowing the female brain, stealing the show with her side boob while everyone is supposed to think of survival is one of the quintessential female fantasies. "I have to be the sexiest bitсh in this bomb shelter" etc.

Maybe it's not as great as the first film in the Harry Palmer series, The Ipcress File, but it's still bloody good. Michael Caine and the Cold War, hard to go wrong (though that's precisely what they did by getting ****ing Ken Russell to direct the third installment).

We watch a lot of horror movies and I'm not a particularly picky customer. If it has atmosphere or visuals or suspense or a surprising plot, something, anything, I'll swallow it up. Moreover I like the subgenre of "folk horror," esp The Wicker Man. But something about Midsommar didn't work for me. Though visually it's very strong. I suspect the issue is the director trying to be awfully clever while being not particularly bright. Many such cases! Still, a moderately enjoyable two hours and a bit.

Just imagine having a cinema where you have to choose between Chris Marker's Sans Soleil and Bunuel's Phantom of Liberty because they play at the same hour... Never seen either on the big screen yet. This is what "spoilt for choice" means.
The real question is whether it's worth to venture outside on a day when it's 37C/98F...
