I agree. Apart from the great acting from the foul mouthed kid it didn't really take me back at all considering I was of a similar age when the film was set

National Security for me. Martin Lawrence and Steve Zahn were both hilarious and I think they work well together. But after watching that, I get the urge to watch Blue Streak.

Look, while you don't have to go in depth when talking about a film, can't you be a little more creative than simply calling every movie you see boring?

I really want to see that. Mainly because I think very highly of Sam Mendes.

Ok well, I trust no one will ever see Lake Tahoe but what I wrote is a pretty accurate description of the plot. As for Away we go, I had...well I can't say high expectations because I only like one Mendes film (American Beauty 'f 'cours), but let's say I expected at least a moderately interesting film. It was conceived as a small, romantic film (the soundtrack is therefore "appropriately" warm and folky) and the style is very similar to the recent independent favorites such as Wendy and Lucy and Frozen river (both of which I liked much more than this crap, especially the latter) so for the first half hour I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. The two main characters are your ordinary Joe/Jane types (obvs, as you can see from the poster) in their mid 30s having a premature midlife crisis. They have a child on the way and decide to find a more appropriate setting to raise it. So they travel around the country in hopes of finding some suitable place. They visit their friends/family, ALL of which turn out to be complete nutcases (which begs the question why they were visiting them in the first place because their reactions to their "eccentricities" make it seem as if they don't know these people at all). This is where the humor is suppose to be derived from but for obvious reasons it doesn't work at all (oh look, a crazy woman in a loveless marriage who insults her children oh haha, and look, another crazy woman who breastfeeds her children in her office and is opposed to strollers oh hahaha, how cooky! ), and seeing as it was supposed to hold the very weak story together, you can imagine that after about 30 minutes of watching ordinary people doing ordinary things can get pretty tiresome. So ultimately, it's not a very rewarding experience but I guess you'll be finding that out for yourself. :\

Rubbish, which is disappointing considering the names behind it include Ray Davies, David Bowie, Julien Temple and Sade Adu. Great soundtrack though.
