Best film of 2007
 

A close one for me. There is a couple of films that I have'nt got round to seeing (David Lynch's INLAND EMPIRE a prime example) this year and I'm not counting torrents either. Just officially released films.

Sunshine. (Danny Boyle). if this was made by a Hollywood studio it would have become another Alien rip off. Instead we get a superbly photographed, subliminally scored, well scripted existensial mindfúck masquerading as a sci'fi thriller.

THE FOUNTAIN nearly takes it, but I have a feeling that we may get a longer directors cut sometime next year that will elaboarate on the themes Aronofsky touched upon.

THIS IS ENGLAND was yet again another stunning effort from writer/director Shane Meadows.

@Lee: Tell no one is apparently from 2006, but thanks for the recommendation, sounds good. Oh and I didn't particularly enjoy The lives of others, but I seem to be in the vast minority there...*shrug*

Also, some good films that seem to be categorized as 2007 films even though they were released prior to that in their respective countries; Taste of tea, Offside, Paprika, Once...

Worst film of the year, Pirates of the Carribbean: At worlds end, no competition...Transformers at least had that scene where one of them turns into a Camaro...AWE had NO redeeming moments whatsoever...absolute catastrophy. Had it not been for my 11 year old niece, I would have walked out of the theater after 30 minutes.

Actually, i was really disappointed with this. I never even managed to watch it all, which is surprising because I love Amoldovars work.

I have been quite behind with my film watching. Going to get my arse in gear next year and catch up. both with what's being released and my own collection. I have approx 60-70 movies I have'nt watched yet!

In to the wild. Was up there for me. It was just so well done , great book and a great movie....awesome soundtrack too.

Touché ;) All in all it's been a pretty bad year film wise. I'm hoping the films I've not yet seen will remedy the situation somewhat...

I have all the time in the world and I still can't watch as many films as I'd like...*sigh*
