Best film of 2007
A close one for me. There is a couple of films that I have'nt got round to seeing (David Lynch's INLAND EMPIRE a prime example) this year and I'm not counting torrents either. Just officially released films.
Sunshine. (Danny Boyle). if this was made by a Hollywood studio it would have become another Alien rip off. Instead we get a superbly photographed, subliminally scored, well scripted existensial mindfúck masquerading as a sci'fi thriller. THE FOUNTAIN nearly takes it, but I have a feeling that we may get a longer directors cut sometime next year that will elaboarate on the themes Aronofsky touched upon. THIS IS ENGLAND was yet again another stunning effort from writer/director Shane Meadows. Films that may have been up there if I had the money to buy them or opportunity to see them: TELL NO ONE THE LIVES OF OTHERS NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN CONTROL RIGHT AT YOUR DOOR. worst film of the year:TRANSFORMERS. |
the last dying milligram by Michael Decota

Superbad.
"Just imagine if girls weren't weirded out by our boners and stuff, and just like wanted to see them. That's the world I one day want to live in." Girl : Your cock is so smooth! Evan : Your's would be too... if you were a man. Girl : I'm so wet right now. Evan: Yeah... they said that would happen in Health Class. |
Hahaha, Super Bad was great, the huge veiny c*ck.

another gay movie is better. so full of yummyness!

Best 2007 films I've seen:

Korea) Sunshine (UK) Death Proof (USA) Before the devil knows you're dead (USA) Atonement (UK) This is England (UK) Hot Fuzz (UK) Knocked up (USA) La Antena (Argentina) Eagle vs. Shark (New Zealand) Films I haven't yet seen, and am anxious to: Michael Clayton (USA) There Will Be Blood (USA) Juno (USA) Sweeney Todd (USA) The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (France) Lars and the Real Girl (USA) The Savages (USA) I'm Not There (USA) 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (Romania) Lust, Caution (China) Persepolis (France) Into the Wild (USA) The Edge of Heaven (Germany) The Orphanage (Spain) My blueberry nights (USA) Margot at the Wedding (USA) A mighty heart (USA) The namesake (possibly from 2006) (India) Zeitgeist the movie (USA) 2 days in Paris (France) Atlas Dei (USA) Beaufort (Israel) The Band's Visit (Israel) From the Sea (Spain) Full Throttle (Japan) In memory of myself (Italy) It's a free world (UK) The class (Estonia) La vie en rose (France) Solitary fragments (Spain) Bliss (Turkey) No end in sight (USA) Ploy (Thailand) Like a dragon (Japan) Gentle breeze in the village (Japan) The show must go on (S. Korea) Empties (Czech Republic) We are the strange (USA) XXY (Argentina) @Lee: Tell no one is apparently from 2006, but thanks for the recommendation, sounds good. Oh and I didn't particularly enjoy The lives of others, but I seem to be in the vast minority there...*shrug* Also, some good films that seem to be categorized as 2007 films even though they were released prior to that in their respective countries; Taste of tea, Offside, Paprika, Once... Worst film of the year, Pirates of the Carribbean: At worlds end, no competition...Transformers at least had that scene where one of them turns into a Camaro...AWE had NO redeeming moments whatsoever...absolute catastrophy. Had it not been for my 11 year old niece, I would have walked out of the theater after 30 minutes. |
Tell no One 2006? my bad
Volver 2006 ! ;) Actually, i was really disappointed with this. I never even managed to watch it all, which is surprising because I love Amoldovars work. I have been quite behind with my film watching. Going to get my arse in gear next year and catch up. both with what's being released and my own collection. I have approx 60-70 movies I have'nt watched yet! |
In to the wild. Was up there for me. It was just so well done , great book and a great movie....awesome soundtrack too.
also I loved hotrod for somereason it made me laugh so much |

In related news, i vote for No Country for Old Men. Probably the best films I've seen the past several years. |
You must not watch many films...;)
OT: Just seen Gone baby gone, nothin' to write home about...1 down, 39 to go...*sigh* |
Since I've been super lazy about movie-going this year, Sweeney Todd takes the cake. Great soundtrack.

Last King of Scotland (Though I swear that came out in 06)
Live Free or Die Hard Seraphim Falls No Country for Old Men Knocked Up Sweeney Todd I'm Not There Grindhouse Black Snake Moan The Darjeeling Limited Into The Wild Eastern Promises Hot Fuzz Superbad A Mighty Heart There's lots I've yet to see...a bunch of which I noticed on Adidasss' list. And you know, I actually enjoyed aspects of At World's End... Specifically, the performances by Geoffrey Rush (he was even more fun this time around, in my mind, easily stealing every scene he was in), Bill Nighy, and Stellan Skarsgard(sp). And Depp was fine, too, as usual. I mean, yeah, the overall movie was a mess, but good work from those names I mentioned pretty much kept me through to the end. |
no country for old men :)
|
- Darjeeling Limited
- Big Nothing - I am Legend |
The Darjeeling Limited was the only one that had me dreaming.
|
Why was it that boring you had to daydream. Wes Anderson's films have the same effect on me too.
|
your favorite movies are stupid.
:( |
I'm going to go with Grindhouse, though I haven't seen No Country yet. Runners up are Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters and Bug.
|
Across the universe!! great film, and great music (its the beatles, duh!) ^^

I Know Who Killed Me - LI-LO deserved an Oscar fo' that shizz!!!
|
I don't go to movies all that much and when I do it's usually to see something that's a shitty chick flick, a horror film or a comic book adaption or some Beatles based film. No Country For Old Men was probably the only good thing I saw.
|
So I Know Who Killed Me is pretty good? I've been thinking about renting it.
|
I have officially just made my list, after seeing all the films I wanted from 2007.
So here it goes: 1. Once (is the last film I've seen from my list.just great) 2. No Country for Old Men 3. There Will Be Blood 4. In the valley of Elah 5. Hot Fuzz (best comedy since Shaun of the Dead) 6. Juno (not realistic but cute) 7. The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford 8. The Bourne Ultimatum 9. Eastern Promises 10. Into the Wild |

I didn't see as many as I would have liked, but No Country For Old Men, and Zodiac tied for first in my script.
|
I didn't see a massive amount but..
1. Control 2. This Is England 3. Hot Fuzz |
Quote:
No Country for Old Men: better acting, better direction, better script, better art direction, better editing, better cinematography Once: better movie |
The only movies that I can remember seeing were No Country For Old Men, In the Valley of Elah and Eastern Promises. I'd pay to see them all again, and if I say any others, I forgot about them and thus don't deserve a spot on my list.
