The face hugger does sort of look like a vagina, but it's H.R. Giger so that's to be expected.

Wait, that means people get pregnant from vaginas if you read into it like that. The face hugger should have been more like an aggressive, face penetrating penis.

It was. It injects its seed into its host, who then incubates the offspring as an unwilling womb. I've heard Ridley Scott describe the facehugger as a metaphor for rape so I'm pretty sure that's legit.

Just think about that scene where the black dude and the whiny bitch get killed and the alien kills the chick by impaling her with its tail basically through the crotch, after which we are treated to an extended audio of her screaming in a way that could perhaps be likened to "rape sounds"... I guess. There was a lot of rape subtext to the xenomorphs.

And perhaps also general anxieties about the whole reproductive cycle. Pregnancy in particular. Giger's art is full of weird sexual fears and I think that it has rubbed off pretty heavily on all of the Alien movies.
In that sense, the Alien movies almost feel a bit "Cronenbergian". If only Cronenberg would direct an Alien movie...

Honestly, I think Giger was a horny dude with an alien/demon/tentacle kink. Everything else was just window dressing. Really ****ing cool window dressing.
