Is anyone still watching Dexter? I have been religiously since the start but Christ... I think the show may have completely jumped the shark with Debra's death. Which is odd because it was one of the most compelling endings of any season of any television show.

I'm not sure if this contains spoilers or not, but I'm going to vent here like the geek I am:

Spoiler for A ****load of bitching:
Firstly, all the new characters are boring. The new black cop guy has potential if they don't attempt to turn him into another Doakes. I liked the Flamingo bit, and think he might turn awesome but isn't cutting it. Couldn't give two ****s about Debra's Psychiatrist, Harrison's Baby Sitter, anyone involved with brother Sam, etc. The Doomsday killers themselves are insanely derivative, Masuka's interns, as well.

Secondly, Debra + Quinn = TV boredom. I've never liked Quinn, and he just gets irritating the more they move him in the spotlight. He appeared out of seemingly nowhere, for no reason, and now he's in our face 24/7.

Thirdly, Debra's emotional issues are getting on my nerves. This whole 'oh, I'm not right for this new position, it's so stressful...' nonsense would be ok if it didn't take up 20 minutes of screen time every episode. It's so dull, and obvious.

Fourthly, Masuka(seemingly the only likable character on the show apart from Dexter himself at the moment) doesn't need to have a gag every 3 minutes. Honestly, he worked so well early on BECAUSE he was a bit player. It's been getting really old for awhile.

There's so little to like about the new season. Feels like they're just phoning it in. I mean, it's been written well in terms of consistency, and story progression. It's still very well acted. Just feels for some reason they aren't taking risks with the writing at all. Which is what makes Dexter an exciting show. Last season was ok with moments(and the Frank Weller character 'Stan Liddy' was ****ing amazing), this season doesn't even have the moments. I'm guessing, is this the end for Dexter being godlike awesome?

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

Didn't the fifth season finale
Spoiler for !?:
Have something to do with aliens?

I stopped watching after season 4. I was asked to suspend too much disbelief, and I realized how formulaic it was and I couldn't bear the disappointment.

Whoever told you the spoiled quote is full of ****. That's the books, not the show.

I don't know, I think season 4 was ingenious, and season 5 was dull but had some moments(The Stan Liddy Character, Dexter having to forge a crime scene to look like a sick fetish snuff game). This season doesn't even have the moments.

Season 6 has been pretty slow. Six eps in and still waiting for it to kick in. Even the doomsday arc has been pretty dull.

Yeah, I'm not terribly impressed with it either. Things should have started picking up like 3 eps ago. Oh well.

Well, He's now going to talk to his brother which is going to very clearly symbolize his 'evil side'...

It's really a shame. I think they dropped the ball with this season. I mean, they're going to have to pull out ****ing fireworks now. It's already been written and filmed, so I'm guessing there won't be much.

Honestly, what ever happened to that teenager he let go in season one? If each season is a year, and they presume him at least 13-17, then he's 17-20 years old now. I think, honestly, to have a copycat killer who adores Dexter, and gets to all of his kills before him would make a more compelling villian than 'Hey, I'm an evil preacher. Muahaha!'.

Then again, it could be like Season 3 which was a disaster that swung back on track in the final few episodes.

Season 6 has been slow indeed. I think the writers are trying to make the show epic and are not doing a great job at it. They should just relax and make Dexter be, well Dexter. This feeling garbage is not working for me, at least not when its jumping all over the place.

It's actually getting interesting now, I must say. Have you seen the latest episode (November 27th)?

Obviously nowhere near one of the best TV Shows ever, but pretty decent. Getting bored and CBA downloading the newest season.
