I just finished watching the entire original British version (which I completely loved) and I'm now just starting to watch the American version but I dont like it as much as the British version. I know the American version is based off the British version but they recycled too many of the jokes.

Beats Japanese Television, where shows are purposely cancled at the height of their popularity! They cancled my favorite show for this very reason:

Takeshi's Castle is the best Japanese programme. Awesome stuff. Especially with Craig Charles commentary.

Look at Fawlty Towers

2 series of 6 episodes and that was it.

And as a result it's 12 episodes of the finest crafted quality comedy shows of all time without a single weak episode.
