What do you guys think of a $1000 build like this, Circe and Tore? The $1,000 Gaming PC - Build a Gaming PC for Any Budget | PCMag.com

I'm not a fan of the components. Just name how much you wanna pay.

The specs look good. Honestly your main worry is the processor because without the right specs you'll chug along on anything brought out recently (mine's a good speed but it's only dual core so my performance suffers massively) but 3.3 and quad core is perfectly good. In my opinion AMD is a better company than Nvidia and a Radeon 7000 card should meet all the needs you'll have for quite a while. You'll likely never fill up 1.5TB of memory any time soon and at least 4GB RAM is an absolute must-have in this day and age. You should be more than fine to run anything with that one.

It probably won't be another year before I get one, I just wanted some general advice :afro:

$1000 seems like a good entry point

Literally the only reason i picked up this game was because it was on sale on Amazon.com for $7.

What I found was a pretty good RPG with large puzzle elements and an interesting combat system based on collecting elemental creatures and utilizing them in different combinations. This is apparently part of an RPG series that dates back to the Game Boy Advance too.

From what I've been reading from people who've played the previous installments, this game doesn't really do much to innovate on previous titles, and the combat and puzzle solving is a bit dumbed down from previous, but as someone who's playing casually on and off, this is pretty enjoyable.

Hadn't played any others except 7. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this games combat wasn't turn based. I'm liking it lots.

Also this:

Looks crazy, brand new developer

One interesting rumour I've heard about SSD HDs is that they reduce the need for memory. When the memory capacity is filled, your computer starts writing memory to hard drive instead (page file). Because an SSD hard drive transfers 450~500 MB/sec (I believe), switching to page file on an SSD doesn't mean your computer will start behaving as sluggish as one with a regular hard drive.

This means little on a regular PC which you can just squeeze gigs of ram into quite cheap, but it might factor into a hardware considerations for those thinking about whether or not to get next years Microsoft Surface Pro f.ex which is sold with a certain set of hardware.

I haven't tried it, but I plan on upgrading my SSD sometime in the near future. Maybe I will test it on my small existing 64GB Samgung 830.

In general, 450-500mb/s write range is pretty much only for high capacity SSD's (250GB+, probably 500GB). My 64GB drive writes at 110mb/s, and I have an excellent model.

Portal! The first one. I've neglected it until now. No wonder people have been hyping this thing for so long.
