What Game Are You Playing Right Now?

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.

This weekend I have started playing Counter Strike Source for the first time in several months. At the mo I'm playing shockingly bad, taking ages to get used to it again, but hopefully i'll be back on form in time for some major tournies.

Good idea for the thread. I have been playing Fable: Lost Chapters recently, only because I wish I had the new installment.

jackhammer 11-09-2008 07:12 PM

I have been playing: I like every member of MB and scoring top points. Unfortunately I must have used a cheat cartridge as I seriously abhor 50% of you but the other 50% could become good friends :D

Medal Of Honor: Heroes 2

Someday, I'm gonna beat that final mission.

I put on some post-hardcore and play Call Of Duty online every once in a while.

Harvest Moon for the Super Nintendo.

It's a farm simulator, which I know sounds incredibly lame, but it's not, one of the best SNES games of all time, in fact.

Basically, you start off with a sh*tty farm that you just inherited from your folks. You gotta clean it up, like cutting grass, chopping down tree stumps and breaking rocks, then you start planting seeds and growing crops (patatoes and turnips in the spring, corn and tomatoes in the summer) which you can then harvest and sell them for cash, you also buy livestock like cows and chickens, raising, taking care of then, selling the milk and eggs they produce and you can even breed them sell them. You lose stamina when you work to hard and you eat to gain more. The game also has an internal clock so it's real time, goes through a day and night circle and through the seasons. Both timed and random events happen during the game, like monthly festivals and natural disasters like hurricans.

Theres a town where you buy the seeds, livestock and tools you need, as well as food for stamina. And another cool thing is that you can even woo the local womenfolk, and when you're successful you can propose to them, marry them, extend your house and make it bigger and have a kid or two to keep the family business going.

It's like a sim/rpg overall. And it's one of the most addictive games I've played in a long time.

Seltzer 11-19-2008 07:23 PM

Civilization IV

Such a cool game.

Isn't harvest moon for nerdy girls??? Game looks dreadfully boring.

Sparky 11-19-2008 08:13 PM

Resistance 2.

Single player is average, but multi player is a lot of fun.

That's what I thought at first but once you start working on your farm, the challenge of getting your business going (and you always need the money) and keeping it stable makes it very addictive, theres a lot more depth to it then you would think and it's really quite fun.

I'm probably gonna get the GBA game, Friends of Mineral Town, since I hear it's even better (plus theres no time limit for success).

I really like sim games. Mainly city builders.

Speaking of which. I've also been playing ActRaiser, which is a very unique game to say the least. It combines elements of action platforming, strategy, rpg and city building. You basically play as god, and you help people build cities, use your god magic to help them through moments of crisis, destroy rocks and burn bushes with lighting, put out fires with rain and other stuff. You help them fight monsters in various ways. When things get specially hairy you come to earth yourself to give these monsters some holy ass kicking.

Awesome game.

Gears of War 2

Laces Out Dan! 11-19-2008 10:14 PM

I bought Fable II about 2 weeks ago. Beat it, pretty fun game.

sweet_nothing 11-21-2008 07:06 PM

I was playing Mirror's edge but got tired of it fast, I think im gonna exchange it for Left 4 Dead. But right now i'm playing Silent Hill: Homecoming

Far Beyond Driven 11-21-2008 08:51 PM

I bought the first three metal gear solid games. I started playing the fourth and then I stopped because I didn't know what the **** was going on. Now i'm playing all of them in order to better understand the storyline of the game even though it's probably just a bunch of weird **** that doesn't make sense anyway... whatever

Strummer521 11-21-2008 09:28 PM

Fallout
Mirror's Edge
Super Mario World
Halo 3
Cave Story

Seltzer 11-21-2008 09:49 PM

I'm replaying Baldur's Gate II for the hundredth time now.

Ah sweet, Minsc is a badass.

I'm playing Fallout 3 right now, I'm really taking my time and absorbing the whole experience in.

anticipation 11-22-2008 12:37 PM

i rented gears 2 to see what all the fuss is about.

khfreek 11-23-2008 07:58 AM

Replaying DBZ Budokai 3, and then I'll move on to Budokai Tenkaichi 3 next. 2 of my favorite fighting games :D

FaSho 11-23-2008 02:04 PM

My friends brother can whistle the theme to all those games, it'a amazing.

khfreek 11-23-2008 03:08 PM

Yeah, I love the soundtracks to all the games, but Budokai 3 wins for the best theme. Nice, simple, instrumental rock.

billyjerome 11-23-2008 03:15 PM

Duck Duck Goose. I'm 1337.

Predator 11-23-2008 03:40 PM

I just finished Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA and am now working on Nuts and Bolts. You can actually collect the stop and swop items in the original BK if you have a nuts and bolts save. The stuff is supposed to cross over, but I haven't figured out how yet.

Sparky 11-24-2008 05:45 PM

Nuts and Bolts seems to be a love it or hate it game.

Do you like it?

Yeah, Minsc is the man and BG2 is probably my favourite game ever. I made a thread about the BG soundtracks ages back and even compiled a youtube video of different songs for it.

This could be said for essentially every game Rare has ever made.

Kirby 11-26-2008 11:01 AM

Sonic Mega Collection Plus

boo boo 11-26-2008 11:30 AM

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH BOI.

I have the Gamecube one, but the PS2 version has all the Master System/GG games right?

The Sonic game for the Master System was pretty good, Chaos and Triple Trouble are pretty fun and Tails Adventure is surprisingly good too. Sonic 2 for the Game Gear (not at all like the one for Genesis) is also good but it has to be the most ridiculously difficult Sonic game ever made.

The other Game Gear games, Sonic Labyrinth, the Sonic Drift games, the GG version of Sonic Spinball and Sonic Blast (not to be confused with 3D blast) are so bad they make Shadow the Hedgehog seem like Devil May Cry.

boo boo 11-27-2008 08:46 PM

Hey guys, think this should be stickied?

Kirby 11-27-2008 09:03 PM

The games it has are...

Genesis:
Sonic the Hedgehog (both Japanese and US versions)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic & Knuckles
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic Spinball
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Knuckles in Sonic 2
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Blue Sphere
Flicky
Ristar
The Ooze
Comix Zone

Game Gear:
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Drift
Sonic Labyrinth
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Sonic Blast

Sonic 3D Blast
Ehh. Well at least it has a great soundtrack.

Quote:

Sonic Spinball
Not the usual Sonic game but I liked it pretty good, it's too short though.

Quote:

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Fun puzzle game.

Quote:

Knuckles in Sonic 2
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Blue Sphere
Man, the Sonic & Knuckles lock on cart was the best thing ever. Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the best Sonic game in my opinion.

Quote:

Flicky
Ok but forgettable old arcade game.

Quote:

Ristar
One of the forgotten masterpieces for the Genesis, it's a bitch to unlock because you had to load all the other games 20 times (in the GC version, I dunno about Plus) but it's totally worth it, this is a great platformer from the same guys who worked on Sonic.

Quote:

The Ooze
Hmm... Never played this one.

Quote:

Comix Zone
Excellent and creative beat em up for the Genesis.

Quote:

Game Gear:
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic Chaos
These are pretty sweet.

But it makes no sense, wheres 2 and Tripple Trouble? I guess they're not here because they were in Sonic Gems Collection, but that really makes no sense not to have all the Game Gear games.

Quote:

Sonic Drift
Sonic Labyrinth
Sonic Blast
Whatever you do, just avoid these at all costs. Especially Labyrinth, that game is just horrible.

khfreek 11-27-2008 10:24 PM

Ran through Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 today. I don't know if this is the highest combo I've ever gotten in my THPS career, but the highest today was 1,250,000 in the Carnival level. Thank goodness for manuals!
