Case in point, that's why racing sims do and sell well because people like that boring crap but I on the other hand prefer arcade style racing games. The main reason that Need For Speed started a department to make racing sims is because they know that's an untapped market in their franchise so they wanted to appeal to those gamers while the rest of us cool kids get the play most wanted and the underground type games.

i'm suffering from repetitive strain injury (button mashing crazily on those retro games)

Everything about Dead Island looks cool... except for the fact that it's about zombies. Seriously, I'd rather step on my own dick than ever watch another zombie movie or play another zombie game. Just a little bit overdone.
besides, cracked already proved how nature would destroy a zombie outbreak in weeks, lolz.
