Dead Cells has become the game I play when I can't find anything else to play. I've put nearly 30 hours into it already and it's only in early access. It's exceptionally good in its current built. Your best bet for when your not in the mood for anything is to play a roguelike ala Binding of Isaac or Dead Cells or Crypt of the Necrodancer. The randomization makes it worthwhile because it not only fixes your need to play a game, it's different every time. That's what I do when I'm in a bit of a gaming rut.

The rogue lite market is getting almost as oversaturated as "metroidvanias". Which is annoying cause I love both but I'm feeling burnt out on them.

You say that like metroidvanias and rogue lites aren't one in the same. They're certainly starting to be anyway especially with games like 20XX, Hollow Knight, and Dead Cells.

At some point I'm going to have fire up the old 360 and finish my last Mass Effect game in ME2 and move onto 3. I've finished those games in sequence so many times it's embarrassing.

I played half of ME2, then completed ME3, then played a 10th of ME1.
Makes a lot of sense.

Really not a fan of western rpg's and open world games, unless I'm over at a friend's house or something. I prefer straight to the point **** with gameplay that keeps my interest but isn't too complicated

Western RPGs > Japanese RPGs

Not a big fan of jrpg's either but with them I'm mostly in for the cheesy story on top of a sense of adventure.
WRPG's are obviously much better at being, well, rpg's. And they're usually too open ended so I'm not into that. I like more focused stuff where the designers can really design around your abilities and the pacing/difficulty curve is more carefully predetermined.
