Anyone seen Quarantine??? Guffaw!

This film, a remake of last years REC...is ****ing ridiculous
It made me laugh the whole way through
anyone else seen it?

pianokeys 12-10-2008 02:08 AM

I really want to see it as it just came out where I live! But now I'm not so sure... it was really that bad?

FireInCairo 12-10-2008 02:56 AM

It is every bit as bad
it alternates between being really boring and really funny
and the camera work is so try hard....and freaking annoying (and I like blairwitch)

pianokeys 12-10-2008 02:59 AM

Mmm yeah Blairwitch was a pretty alright movie, it seems that all these "copycat" films where the whole amateur hand-held camera thing is employed turn out to be ultimate fails. I wonder what other people on the boards thought of it...

jackhammer 12-10-2008 03:09 AM

Yet again another example of Hollywood's inability to make a decent remake. Let's hope that Death Race is a n exception to the rule. It stars Jason Statham, so it at least merits a watch :D

pianokeys 12-10-2008 03:12 AM

I'm looking forward to The Day The Earth Stood Still - another remake. Of a 1950s film that I loved. Hope I'm not let down.

Oh god no, that looks like another balls up. The original is classic and this just looks overblown. If it was'nt a remake it might be a good film but the original was about the emotional connection between the boy and the robot. This looks like it's about blowing stuff up :(

I know you're probably right. This makes me sad. But I'm such a sucker for old sci-fi films that I get excited when they get remade.

jackhammer 12-10-2008 03:25 AM

There was rumours years ago that they were going to remake the classic Sinbad films (Golden Voyage etc) but I'm glad they did'nt. I love those movies and Ray Harryhausen (stop motion F/X) is a genius. He did them all on his own in his garage sometimes taking up to four months for 5 minutes of screen time.

Really! Man I am glad they didn't remake those movies, too. They're classics. I didn't know about the whole doing it in his garage thing, that's crazy.

worst movie ever.

i saw it blazed and i still didn't like it.

dac 12-15-2008 08:05 AM

[.REC] may have been the best scary movie I've ever seen, so I chose not to see Quarantine so it wouldn't be ruined.

Raust 12-20-2008 07:17 PM

I haven't seen the film yet, but this whole POV genre is starting to get really annoying. I remember when Cloverfield was released and nearly everyone in the area I lived were raving that it was the first POV movie to ever be released. How it was so original and hasn't been done before. Yet people tend to forget about Cannibal Holocaust (1979) one of the first POV movies to come out. The Blair Witch Project (1999). And Zero Day (2002). Along with much more other titles. The point is people are making these movies out to be better than they're supposed to be without any prior knowledge.

The Day the Earth Stood Still was film number 4 on my list of movies I can't believe I spent $9.00 to see at the theatre. I'm pretty sure I dozed off somewhere in the middle. But then, Keanu Reeves acting usually has that affect on me.

Although it's a bugger to know it was $9.00 wasted, I'm glad it sucked. Why does Hollywood keep messing with classic films? It is'nt as if there are no scripts out there. They need to grow some balls and start taking chances on the smaller scale films.

As for Statham, I have heard that Transporter 3 is pretty bad :( the first two are just damn good fun.

I don't care... I still need to see it. I could just eat him alive he's so damn fine. And oh yeah...he's a good actor too. :p:

I'm hoping Death Race will be a good watch. It seems like it would be hard to mess that up you know?

jackhammer 12-23-2008 12:52 PM

I will still see it as well. I have most of Stathams films. He has plenty of haters but sod it. I like that he comes across in both film and in interviews as a completely normal bloke. He's not the best actor in the world and he's bald but he does'nt give a toss. Likeability is far more endearing that half of the preening pretty boys in Hollywood.

NSW 12-23-2008 01:04 PM

Yeah, but he's hot bald. Not everyone can pull it off, but he's definitely got it going on. And he seems like a bad ass, definitely not a pretty boy. Hate pretty boys.

When I first started work as a chef a few years back my workmates thought I was a psycho because of my image :( I'm a pussycat really. It helps looking like a psycho though sometimes!

NSW 12-23-2008 01:50 PM

I dont' know...you do look kinda freaky-eyed in that picture. "You lookin' at me??!"

jackhammer 12-23-2008 01:52 PM

Just like Shrek says-Onions have layers. You gotta peel away at them.

Apologies-thread has been hijacked lol

FireInCairo 12-23-2008 06:29 PM

Nah it's cool
Your bald look is more interesting than quarantine anyway.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 12-24-2008 01:02 AM

NSW 11-23-2009 06:28 PM

I saw the first 20 min of this movie. Dear lord...what a train wreck. And not the interesting kind you can't turn away from....
