Overated Films (fan, quote)

Nigga choo crazy. IMO it's the best one, it's the best animated film I've seen since Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. I loved how they did so much with so little dialogue. The First half of the movie is absolutely amazing, the second half is good. But I felt it would have been better if it only focused on the robots.

Any movie with Peter Gabriel on it's soundtrack gets my seal of approval.

Don't get me wrong, a weak Pixar movie is still a good movie. They literally haven't made a movie that I haven't liked. Wall-E just wasn't one of my favorites and I didn't think it was quite up to the level of all the praise that got heaped on it.

So are you looking forward to Up? Looks like it could be pretty interesting.

Agreed, it was a cute movie and everything, but nothing extraordinary. Up looks alright but I'd still rather see Monsters vs. Aliens or even Earth.

Meh. I didn't find it particularly profound on that level I have to say. It was a fairly typical kid's movie message.

i don't think kids would understand the concept of corporation owned services. i think that concept would fly right over their underdeveloped brains.

BnL, the corporation in the movie, and how all commercials and products have their logo on them is a commentary on capitalism.

I don't think that's something a kid comprehends yet.

I think the way it's presented is very much something a kid can understand. It's not an in-depth critique of the capitalist system or anything, it's just very broad satire of consumer culture.

when i think of kid i think of people within the ages of 3 and 13.

i know it was presented in a simpler manner than, say, a college lecture, and maybe these kids would catch a few concepts, but i think that having the commentary in the first place at all is what makes the movie so great.

there's ambiguity, too. BnL is never presented as an evil corporation, just an all encompassing one.

what i'm saying is that the film is denser than just a kids movie, and for that reason it deserves its praise.

Well like I said, I like the movie. I just think the mountains of praise that were heaped on it is a bit more than it deserves. It was a good movie but when it came out a lot of people calling it Pixar's crowning achievement and one of the best animated movie ever, and I just don't agree with that.
