Oh hell yea. I got Crysis from a friend just to benchmark my computer for games.
I ran it with all video/performance settings on the highest. No lag or anything. So I'm pretty content for the time being.
I guess my next step, if I had to upgrade, would be to go with a 64bit OS so I can add more than 4 gigs of RAM and maybe hook up a Core i7 processor. Maybe go SLI with dual video cards... And that's only if games start pushing my PC to the max. Until then, I'm good. But like you said... you can't really upgrade a console in that way. You have to buy the next generation. For us, it just makes more sense to only have to spend money on one thing that does more than one thing.

I think that with the new project XBOX has coming up, it should dominate SONY if it actually functions like they say it will.

Are you kidding? PC gaming will never die out as long as people are still using PC's. Are physical copies of games harder to get? Yes, but with Steam and Big Fish (or whatever it's called), buying and downloading games is easier than ever before. Just look at the online market, World of Warcraft up to 11 million subscribers, plus newer MMORPG's like Everquest 2, Star Trek Online, and Starcraft II coming out next month.

it might not be dying but that doesn't mean it isn't stagnant as all get out.

take a good look at the list of 'new' things coming out of E3. what's actually new? at least 90% of the games are sequels or 'reboots' of old franchises. the 'new' motion controllers are 4 years late at trying to compete with the wii and well, just like the .gif above, does moving like that seem appealing to you?

at least the 3DS is something legitimately NEW.
